Quoting a poster on RGM, "aren't you all a little curious why we keep losing lots of games despite having a center who drops 20 per game?"

Why Portland lost 50 games despite Zach throwin up 24 a game?

Oh, this is good, trust me. Read both articles. Quoting that poster again, "I mean it's not like the author of this is basing it on the NBA studies of four highly renowned economists or anything..."

IN YO FACE MISTEREARL!
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

This is all too deep for me. I just prefer to skim over Nixluvas posts and go right to Isles straight on hate rants.

^ Basically it's a statistical tool to measure how many wins a player produces for his team.

David Lee produced over 13 last year.

Randolph, over 7.

Curry, well I don't even wanna go there.

You have to start Lee and Zach and screw Eddy. He's too limited to be a starter ahead of Lee or Zach.

Believe it or not, I don't hate Zach.

I did forget to mention that the article states that if Zach can produce the way he did last year, I that he could very well be worth his contract.
Of course we could imagine a scenario where Randolph might be almost worth this money. Let’s imagine that Randolph plays 82 games in each of the next four seasons. And let’s say he manages to continue to post the 0.147 WP48 he offered last season (as opposed to the -0.003 he offered in 2005-06). If he averages 36 minutes per game he will produce about nine wins in each of the next four campaigns. For this he will be paid about $61 million, or about $1.7 million per victory. Last year the NBA paid out close to $2 billion in player salaries. Given that players produced 1,230 wins regular season wins, this works out to about $1.6 million per victory. So if we are optimistic about Randolph, he might be worth this contract.

9 x 1.6 Mill = 14.4 Million. Which is actually more than he's paid now & Slightly under what he'll be paid next year.

Eddy on the other hand, is hopeless. The guy flat out HURTS us. Zach is open to discussion...

the one problem I have is the article says on average teams get a certain percentage of rebounds from their center and curry under delivers. given this, I would expect our team (and I assume this was talking about last season) to be a poor rebounding team, which we weren't.

I can't disagree about the lack of passing/turnovers - but the lack of blocking ability is exacerbated by our guards continuous lack of perimeter defense.

end analysis: curry would be a better center on a different team.

I think we should look to move him- his value will never be higher.

We had other players pick up the slack for Eddy's rebounding last season (although we probably could have totally controlled the boards if Eddy was a better rebounder). Why is that a problem with the article?

At least they'd come off the salary cap then!

The key is the make what they both do stick, by having Jamal and steph play solid ball. If all we get is our two bigs playing well, we'll still lose. Much like any other team with only one aspect of the game going well would lose. It's not that complicated. You still need a good TEAM game. When we get Jamal and Steph playing well at the same time as Zach and Curry, we'll win most games.

In the end this team will have it's good stretches and bad. I just hope that we'll one more good stretch and than bad this year and that should be enough to get us into the playoffs. It seems that there's this desire to see the team be a consistently good team and with this roster I don't know that this is realistic. Just from the predictions we can see that most know that this team isn't perfect. Zach and Curry aren't overrated. They do what they do and wins come when the TEAM plays well and supports what they do.

Bonn - ask not what you can do for The Salary Cap.

Ask what The Salary Cap ever did for you.

What did having overpaid flawed players ever do for us?

It hasn't done anything for us - it never had the chance to - isn't that the point?
