is it just me or did he really look out of it tonight? I love the guy but he looked visibly upset more than once tonight and very frustrated.... He was not hustling like usual im a little worried hope he is OK with his role on this team cuz we really need him to be the David Lee we are used to if we are going to have a chance.

Also Balkman diddnt seem to play very hard tonight also.. Wasup wit our Hustle players not Hustlin tonight????

I'd be pissed too if my minutes where reduced. I mean didn't Lee prove himself last year?
I'll never trust this' team again.

It was bad muchup for Lee.
He cannot guard Howard, Lewis, or Turk.
First is too big and athletic and other 2 are too quick.
At least Zack and Eddy were able to use Turk and Rashad on low post
Unfortunately for Eddy they have "big time player" Foyle. But this is different story...

Exactly.

I said after last game that I wanted Lee's minutes straightened out, he's too good of a player to be playing back and forth minutes and so far Isiah is playing him in a very undefined role... I don't like it one bit.

I think Van Gundy game planned for Lee and Balkman. Both looked awful.. Unless there is a leak of some secret all night party, I will assume that the defense was prepared for Balk and Lee.

Undefined role my butt

Fatal Flaw in David Lee's ability to defend players with quickness exposed. It's not a case of Isiah messing with his minutes. Orlando presents a series of hellified matchup problem for any frontcourt.

David just had a bad game. His numbers are down this season though. Most of that is the presence of Randolph, who unlike Frye actually goes and gets rebounds, which cuts into all those easy rebounds Lee was getting last year. He also does not seem to have found a flow on offense, which also due in part to Rnadolph's presence. I think it is something that will work itself out over the next 10-15 games.

You mean Lee will work himself out soon...
Hmm... I think he has a good opportunity.

If you watch the game close Howard didnt score or get a rebound when Lee guarded him for about a 6 minute stretch in the 3rd period. How can look at a person game when he plays 15 minutes a night. He doesnt get shots in the offense, and he has one turnover for the whole season. I thought Lee played very good defensive last night and that all you can grade him on

You sick you sit isnt Zeke mantra. Jameer absolutely killed Steph last night and he got rewarded with 6 minutes. Curry had 3 board in 36 minutes and Zach took the usual 20 shots and both got over 35 minutes. Jamal had 6 turnovers and played 38 minutes last night. Lee was the only guy the guarded Howard well last night. This isnt a very good team, and until we play defense it will get worse.

The mantra clearly is - you paid you play.
Isiah is all about making points and proving himself right.
But this is natural for person combining GM and coach position.
This practice is excellent recipe for failure.
And this is expected from moronic organization like this.

That couldn't be further from the truth, when Lee was in the game last night he was playing well and he was even playing good defense, he's the only guy who actually put a body on Howard. This whole 'you suck, you sit' thing you got going sounds good on paper, but couldn't be further from the truth.

as I said earlier, I wouldn't be happy either if my minutes were decreasing every game. Especially after I'm coming off a season where I averaged a double-double and the team still went out and got a power-forward to start over me.

Lee's minutes this year: 24, 27, 23, 19.... yeah that makes a lot sense.

THat was my point. He seemed out of it on the offensive end and did not have his usual pop. I think he is still adjusting to playing with Randolph. Zach is such a more dominating presence than Frye, that Lee is going to have to work harder to have the same impact on the game that he had last year. Also, our guards need to get him more into the game, which they failed to do yesterday.

I have noticed this also. He seems a step slow both physically and mentally. I don't see the intensity I am used to from him. He also looks downright lost on the court at times.

I didn't see the game, so I'm only responding to what I'm reading here.

If Lee had a good game that went unappreciated, that's fine. If he had an odd off-game, that's fine. But if his performance is suffering because he's unhappy with his minutes he better buck the f ck up and take it.

Lee and Balkman both earned the love and respect of Knicks fans by bring the same steam every night and making the most of every minute out there. That was their gift, and what separated them from the pack.

The moment they choose to join the ranks of sulkers - and I'm NOT saying that moment has come, but if it does - they'll get the same "love" that guys like Frye, Francis, Marbury and James get, and a ticket out of town.

So I hope they just struggled in the system, and maybe still have some residual effects from their injuries. They just need to make sure their legs are sound and their heads are on straight so we can have a chance to win some games.

In the back of my mind I'm a little concerned that Lee is looking forward to his next contract and his future role -- be they here or elsewhere. That's fine, I wouldn't expect otherwise, but I hope he understands those will be determined more by bringing the right attitude and effort than the wrong.
