Let's just forget about the defense for a moment..... where are the above?

I haven't seen squat so what have these guys been working on? What do they do in Practice? I guess Chandler gets a pass because coach won't play him.

We've seen ZR hit some shots from pretty far back - there's no question he has range.

What is the purpose of this thread. Heck for that matter what is the point of anything you say?

With Zach here and obviously looking to keep floor balance with Curry, I would guess that there's little need for Curry to shoot jumpers. They may look to add it over the course of the season or maybe not, I just fail to see why this is so important that you thought it needed a thread?

It's the same guys. Trueblue, 4949, MS, Islesfan, bobs3304 etc. What is the point of making fun of the team and looking to point out negatives at any opportunity? Diggin for negative things to bring out about the team? What do you get out of this?
Is this what you do for all of the teams you root for? It would seem like an awful waste of time and energy. Oh well.. to each his own. Have fun ripping your teams.

Positives from last season:
Steph - hmmm...
Craf - uhmmm..
Eddy - maybe, but what....?
Q - ... no
Lee - aaa, well...
Balk - ???
Zack - he is better that Fry. Uff... I was struggling here.
Nate - may be but... Ok. I will give you this

My point is - this is the same team with addition of Zack.
And these players are not too much different from what they was. But how it can be different. What can be drastically improved in 6 month of off time?
The only way to change the team in short time is... to change the coach and implement new system where these players will fit better. And if they not just get read of them.

Curry's "2 rebound game", is as much to be counted on as a "5-15" Jamal Crawford performance.

In assertion -

they're inconsistent.

For all of Zachery's faults (and there are plenty), atleast he is consistent.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

The offense looks better than last year. It is the turnovers and defense that need fixing. The turnovers can be fixed. The defense is not going to improve until the team gets a shotblocker worthy of 20 mins per game and a defensive pg that can keep opposing pg out of the paint. We get those two players, plus Balkman, and this team can start being a decent defensive squad.

Getting this 2 type of players was a priority for 4 years already.
And the result is - we need them even more that before.

It is becoming more obvious that we have to trade Lee. I love the guy, but if we are building around Randolph and Curry, we need a defensive pf/c to come in and swat some shots. A guy like Diop would be perfect for this team (but I am not saying trade Lee for Diop). When you look at this team, we have only two guys who could be considered above-average defenders and that's Balkman and Collins. Everyone else on this team is an average or poor defender. If we are stuck with starters who cannot defend, we have to have key bench players who are not just average, but above-average on defense to make this work. This means we will probably have to trade Lee and maybe Nate to bring in a shot-blocking pf/c and a defensive minded pg.

Completely, Completely agree. I think Mardy can be the defensive-minded PG - he should get some burn. No offense to Briggs, but I would rather see Isiah give Collins some PT to see exactly what he's got there with him before trading for a guy like Delonte West who is a nice little role player, true, but not a significant upgrade over anything we currently have in the backcourt right now in my opinion.

I want a big man who's big enough to defend the 4 and the 5 and a guy that's quick enough to help out on the weakside. I like Diop, good call, but when you're talking about dealing Lee (which I have no problem at all doing now that we have Zach Randolph) I want a little bit more of a talented player.

These are my targets, in order:

(1) Andris Biedrins, Warriors - 6'11"/7', big, quick, very good rebounder and shotblocker. GS failed to re-up his contract recently when they had a chance. They're grooming Patrick O'Bryant to take over in the middle for them and it looks like he's almost ready.

(2) Hilton Armstrong, Hornets - legit 6'11', huge wingspan, excellent shotblocker. Hasn't gotten a lot of time in the league yet due to being in Byron Scott's doghouse at times last season and also due to Chandler and West getting big minutes up front (which might change now that the Hornets dealt away Cedric Simmons for David Wesley). Anyone that's watched him play for U-Conn. knows his interior defense is for real. I happen to love the other parts of his game as well too - he has all the offensive tools to be as good if not a better offensive weapon in this league than Channing Frye, a guy he most closely resembles physically. He's got as much range and the form on the jumper is as good as Frye's. Plus, he's just much more aggressive, has better footwork and has much better rebounding potential and defensive and offensive instincts than Frye. Plus, he's familiar with the Garden having played for U-Conn. for 4 seasons. Probably not as sure a thing as Biedrins is right now as far being your man in the middle but he's one of if not the biggest secrets in the league, no question.

(3) Justin Williams, Kings - maybe he eventually comes as part of a larger Ron Artest deal, who knows, but he's a real good, young shotblocker. Only 6'10" and a little thin at this point, but has a huge wingspan and the desire to go block a Goddamn shot. He went undrafted and if I was Isiah I would've taken him with the Mardy Collins pick a few season's ago. I said it at the time. Or at least I would've beat Sacramento to the punch and jumped at the chance to acquire his services immediately after the 2006 draft concluded. Very raw and not nearly as talented as Biedrins or Armstrong so I'm not even mentioning Lee in this deal unless Artest is included, but does have the shotblocking element we're missing.

No doubt Lee complitely out of line on this team.
IT should trade Lee and Bulk for some guys who can put the rock in the hole.
Go all out Isiah!!!
