Ben Wallace has been plain awful for the Bulls so far this year, posting very un-Wallace-esque numbers like 4.5 rebounds per game, just one steal through four games and a pathetic .300 field-goal percentage. Most of the blame can probably be attributed to a sprained ankle suffered in the final preseason game, but that hasn't stopped his former teammates in Detroit from coming up with their own theories. From the Detroit News:

"I am pretty sure Ben is going through a lot," [Antonio] McDyess said.

"But we're not going to give him no slack. We are already on him about the shoes he's playing in -- that's why his ankle's hurting him. I am pretty sure he's going to hear a lot of that."

Wallace, of course, joined the Starbury movement and is endorsing (and wearing) $15 sneakers from Steve & Barry's. McDyess was almost certainly joking, but was Mars Blackman on to something? Is it the shoes?

Of course not ... right?

Haha. Antonio probably has a sneaker contract with Nike, Reebock or one of the other overpriced companies.

All Stephon has to do now is get LeBron away from Nikes and KG away from Addidas and the Knicks are a shoe in for the playoffs.

Great quote but is knee caps even relevant at this point? Next time interview a guy who is allowed to practice in the summer.
