Do you think that means he is done trading his key players and likes the young core that he has? Or do you think he will make trades it just will not include Jamal, Lee, Curry, Nate, Balkman, and Zach?

The impression that I got is that he feels his job is not in jeopardy and is going to be slowing down with trading young players because he wants them to develop.

The only players that might be traded if there is a trade are

Morris
Jeffries
Mardy
Malik
Q
James (Buy out at the end of the season)

Just an excuse for Dolan to keep him around...

The young players we should have an excuse to wait around for are Kevin Durant and Jeff Green.

Not ****in Randolph godamm Morris and Wilson Chandler...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

This isn't new news, for a long time he's said he likes the group we have. It means he won't actively seek out trades but if the right player is available for the right price he'll pull the trigger - likely even if it means including one of our young guys.

I am growing tired of the idea that we need to be patient because the young players take years to develop chemistry.

Tell that to the Suns, Raptors, Celtics this season already, Nuggets after we shipped em Camby and Nene, Bulls after Paxson took over Reinsdorph's mess. There are plenty of examples of teams who got it together any where from 3-18 months time and resembled a cohesive unit.

The majority of the core is going on it's 3rd season together. They don't get it this season why would any more time make much difference?

Now, if you want to spin those comments and say you like what we have and you just want them to stay together for some time because you believe this is the year they go for 45 wins, then 50 the next, etc.. I can understand that POV but I don't believe in it yet. This team has a lot more to prove this season than Isiah seems to believe.

We're not idiots. You don't produce 41 wins and playoffs the majority of the fanbase will want changes.

I agree with all that, but I also think this is the year to play it out without major changes. The team already had a huge change at PF and I think it's showing that people know their roles better- I think a bug trade is exactly what we don't need. I wouldn'y do anything other than a salarydump that nets draft picks.
If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

Excuse making is Isiah's strongest skill.
And this excuse is the longest possible.
But is useless in NY. May be in Toronto or Indiana it was OK?

I personally agree. I think our very good group of young players like EC, Z, Lee, Balk, Chandler, Nate, possibly Mardy should be together for a while. We will probably have Marbs for the remainder of that contract. We should look for any opportunity to deal JJ2 and Q....both of which are horrific athletes by NBA standards.

And when he trades for different players, they'll need years to play together, and so on and so on.

Why is it that 3 other coaches, including 2 Hall of Famers, had to win now and didn't get the luxury of keeping teams together for years? Why is this the first we've heard Isiah talk like this? Hmmm, I wonder.

That's the part that bugged me. Chaney, Lenny and LB had rosters, who everyone on this site admits were worse than the one's we have today. Yet they had to be fired for "lack of performance", while our current coach needs a couple more years. I'm not disagreeing with Isiah because he does need a couple more years to fix the roster, but the others should have gotten the same luxury to build the team in their eyes.

You reap what you so. I wish him luck, but he is definitely reaping.

I personally was never a Chaney fan and not convinced that he was a very good coach. But to date, he had the worst roster out of our last 4 coaches and he still got the most consistent effort and best results. Yet he was led out by security guards.

That was a great day. One of Isiah's best. It wasn't just that he had Chaney escorted from the Garden - first he let him twist in the wind a while, not knowing whether he would continue to be the coach. Then he went on TV and yukked it up with Letterman about Chaney's fate. Then he let Chaney come to the Garden on game day and prepare the team. And then he fired Chaney! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! Then to top it all off, he has him escorted from the premises! After years of loyal service! Oh man, that was hilarious.

Those were the days.

Better yet, Isiah must have known that the rosters that those coaches had to work with weren't very good, since he felt a need to keep adding players since, but they were still held to a "win now" standard"

When Isiah was just the GM, his head coaches were supposedly given teams that could and should win with their jobs depending on it. But when Isiah is the GM AND head coach, the team needs years to play together.

All the above is true.

Remember how we all hated Chain-Knee? How he rode Allan Houston into the ground. How he kept getting extensions from Scott Layden for doing nothing but losing with a bunch of down-side vets? Isiah really was just performing the job countless Knick fans would've relished performing. The only thing that has really sucked is how Chaney went on to coach against us and beat the Knicks. What? That didn't actually happen? You mean he's not found another coaching job? Oh... my bad.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.
