Or is it to early to tell?
How many games before we can say it with confidence?

I am more impressed with the .471 shooting percentage. If he can stay in the 47-49 percentage range and cut down the turnovers while also increasing the assists, he is going to have a good year for us.

no chucking, more going to the basket. Keep that up and not be a complete siv and he'll finally be the player Isiah expected when trading for him.

Jamal Crawford is getting to the line 8 TIMES per game. That's not gonna hold up, but that is an encouraging number for sure. As an 80-85% FT shooter- that could mean an extra 2-3 pts to his average.

Right now he's averaging 24.7 ppg and 7 apg on 47% shooting and 41% 3P. He's also taking only 4 3PA per game now- 1.5 less than last year. Those assist numbers are tremendous- the 2 PG offense is working for the first time.

Jamal has but up stretches of games where he has been great in the past, so for me it's too early to tell. His defense is still poor and I still want to see how he contributes on those nights when his shot is not falling. These will all need a few more games before we can answer. In the meantime it has been fun to watch.

Craw/Lee as the basis for a Kobe package doesn't sound so far fetched anymore.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

I agree with you, it's still to early to tell. For the time being i'm satisfied with his shot selection. I'd like to see more of those drive and dishes, we really have alot of big men and slashers with soft hands and great finishing who'd benefit from it.

As for his defense i'm ok with his current effort, though he's been caught not putting up a hand a few times but nothing serious. It's his gambling on steals and his tendency to lose his man off screens thats got me worried

He's not an emerging star, but he's playing more intelligently which is allowing him to take more advantage of his talent.

You know what's funny? Some UK knucklehead proposed a Curry/Crawford for Collison/Ridnour trade idea. Uggh!

nine - watching the game live and in person, and then watching on tv give you 2 very different perspectives on how the team is playing. in the arena, you see everything. our guards fell into the same trap they always do - losing their man away from the ball, collapsing on help, and leaving their guys wide open. denver didn't have any 3 point shooters (with chucky out) and klieza still dropped bombs on us. this applies to steph, jamal, nate and q. it also applies to balkman BUT he is so darn fast, lanky, and explosive off the floor that he can recover while the other guys can't.

the matchup vs. orlando is intriguing b/c their 3/4 spots are hedo and shard. so on one end of the court, one of them have to guard zach...but on the other end, zach has to guard one of them at the 3 point line.

It will also be nice to see how our bigs match up with Dwight as well. He's been drawing alot of fouls and going to the line alot. I would like to see how our bigs cope with him especially Curry. He tends to disappear from games when he gets in foul trouble early so it will be a good test.

This is one of those games where you'll have to use Lee more. Lets see if Zeke makes that adjustment.

without a doubt, crawford can score with anybody in the league, he can set guys up, throws the best entry passes into the post on the knicks, and is absolutely one of the top 5 clutch players in the league (other than kobe and arenas, i'm hardpressed to find someone you'd rather want to have the ball).

ppl forget this guy added 20 pounds of muscle to his upper body, thats why he's getting to the line so easily, he's a lot stronger and just as quick. i wouldn't be surprised if crawford really solidifies himself this yr as a stud player.

also, as clyde pointed out last night, dude didnt start playing organized basketball until his JR yr of HS. he played JR and SR in HS, then one year at michigan and then made the league. the skill set he has for a person who played organized ball for 3 yrs before getting to the league is absolutely ridiculous.

he's no different than last year to me. He had plenty of games last year where he played great basketball. His problem was, and it's yet to be seen if it will continue to be, is his inconsisentecny (sp). I'm not convinced that he can be a dependable scorer in this league. I'm certainly not convinced after 1 game. I'd need a year of JC proving his ability to score an find ways to stay in the came when his shots aren't falling.
NY KNICKS 4 EVER! Will we ever find players like Anthony Mason, Xavier McDaniels, Patrick Ewing again? I hope so.

He's not an emerging star, he's been in the league for 8 years now.

Don't buy the Kool-aid guys.

It's tainted.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

JrZyHuStLa - big deal. Jamal only played three years of organized ball TOTAL (2 in HS and only 1 in college) before the NBA. The arbitrary bell curve imposed on him is almost as comical as people who insist on a single opinion, no matter the evidence to the contrary.

Crawford is an intelligent player with gifts he is just learning to focus.

I don't have a problem with that.

i'd say 82 games & we can tell for sure... we've seen great flashes from Jamal in the past... he just needs to put it all together & play consistently every night... so far this season he's looked awesome & it's great to see... hopefully he can keep it up for the entire season & prove some of the naysayers wrong.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

Doesn't matter how long he's been in other leagues for. He's been a professional for 8 years, and he's not emerging. Is he improving, sure maybe he is. But Crawford becoming an emerging star is pushing it. I guarantee he never makes an all-star game.
