WhachootalkinboutGeorgeWillis?
You may not like Thomas or owner James Dolan for what went on last month, but if you're a Knick fan you get past all that and give this team a fair shot because it's the best shot you've had around here in a long time.
The possibilities with this team are intriguing. Randolph (15 points, 10 rebounds) brings exactly what the Knicks need, a power forward who runs the floor, can produce a double-double each night and take the pressure off Curry and Stephon Marbury. (Randolph admitted to having jitters in his Garden debut)
“I’m just out there trying to work hard,” said Randolph, who missed 12 of 18 field-goal attempts but finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds. “Some nights, the ball might not be falling for me, but I can do other stuff.” (NYT)
"I'm just glad it's over," (Randolph) said. (Daily News)
In Jamal Crawford (24 points), Nate Robinson (10 points), Marbury (17 points) and Randolph, the Knicks have several streaky scorers who can take over a game. David Lee (14 points, seven rebounds) and Renaldo Balkman are instant energy off the bench.
It doesn't mean they'll make the playoffs, but if they are to become a postseason threat, commanding their home court will be critical.
Winning their first home opener in six years last night may be a sign of better things to come.
"It was a good victory because we came together," Lee said. "Everybody played their part."
If you're a Knick fan, this is a team worth watching. It's all about basketball now. The Garden needs to be a place where the Knicks can feel some love. Don't blame the employees for the shortcomings of their employers.
