4 straight home games, we must win at least 3 of these games...we CAN NOT go into the west coast trip at 2-3 or 1-4

I agree with this. Isiah always talked about protecting the home court well now they have to do it.

I would say the next game is critical. Yes game 2. If we CANT beat what might be the worst team in the league at home with a lot of pressure--we might as well dig in for a 35 win season.

The worst team right now in the association is Sacremento, Minny plays with some bravado.

It would be nice if the Knicks could get back that home court dominance that they had in the 90's with Riles and JVG.

We gotto stop taking the "These next few games are critical attitude" and just saying "This game, we gotto go in and win." We're just gonna exhaust ourselves, the season is not gonna be fun for us, the coach or the players. Notice, all good teams say "Just one game at a time. We're focused on the opponent we got next." We gotto learn to forget anything that's happened in the past, in terms of wins and losses and just play in the moment. We'll have a lot more success with that 'tude.

We haven't won a home opener since 2001!! Holy ****!!! Not a shocker that Jeff Van Gundy was our coach at the time and it was that season where our beloved Jimmy assumed full control of the Garden.

depends if you're pulling to keep Isiah or not...

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

All home games are important thats where a team makes its differential in record. In the NBA a team is lucky to play .500 basketball on the road so if the Kicks want the playoffs and that is their goal then it starts with home wins. A good team establishes home court dominance and then takes it on the road.

Some of this can be attributed to Isiah Thomas. Last season he floated the notion that the booing fans had an effect on his team. This year, after the 40 point preseason loss to the Celtics, he suggested the team was intimidated by the Boston media and therefore were more focused on the hype - than the game.

Even so I don't buy the ideal that the media or fan pressure causes the players to fail. We're talking about professionals here. You don't get to this level by being a basket case ya know?



As to the games themselves what is of importance is 48 minutes of relentless aggression. If the team works hard wire to wire you can accept a loss here or there. I think it was expected by most that we could conceivably begin the season 2-4 yet not too shortly thereafter ought to get it together and be targeting a 41 win season.

The Ultimatum

He is expected also to be booed for his Knicks record, which fell to 118-183 Friday night. He is expected to be booed for making a "distinction" about a white man calling a black woman a bitch - a deposition excerpt that Sharpton said yesterday was distorted.

He also is expected to be booed for a remark that came up during the trial in which he allegedly referred to not caring about the "white" season-ticket holders. Thomas denies this.

There is no King James tonight. Just a victory that better be gained.

if this team is really thinking playoffs, then 3-1 during this homestand would go a long way to show that. and i think they will. this team will win a bunch of games at home this year.
