While many might criticize Derrick Coleman, this is the type of strong, big body the Knicks could use. At 6' 10", Coleman can absolutely play the middle for the Knicks, while giving them both an inside back to the basket game, and can hit the boards. This might be the perfect opportunity for the Knicks to trade Charlie Ward, throw in a Michael Wright, and allow Charlotte to get $3million in salary cap relief. You do this trade, and the Knicks depth is awesome.

Coleman is a huge gamble because of his attitude. We don't want him to disrupt the team.

a)you cannot combine a player+exception in a trade for one player.
b)DC has a HUGE contract among the lines of LJ but with his salary going up each year
c)He is reportedly a team spirit wrecker, something we can't use if LJ were to leave
