i'm sorry, but 0 points & 1 rebound in 10 minutes? is this why Fred Jones has a roster spot over Demetris Nichols & why Mardy Collins isn't part of the rotation? Mardy plays better defense than Jones & is a much better rebounder & facilitator of the ball, & Nichols is a better scorer than Jones... the fact that this guy is seeing minutes over either of them is a joke.

I will not stand idly by while you badmouth the irreplaceable Fred Jones.

Mardy didn't appear to be completely healthy and recovered when he played in pre-season.

I have heard that his off season surgery is still slowing him down. No matter how much Thomas tries to recreate Jones into a 'defensive' player he cannot guard LeBron. Obviously Thomas realized this quickly last night in the fourth quarter. Maybe Jones will get the chance to 'lock down' 6'8" Demetrius Nichols the next time the Knicks and Cavs play.

That I don't understand. Fred Jones is an eminently replaceable talent. A 6'2" SG that plays hard and occasionally can provide offense? They're about 30 of those roaming the NBDL/CBA.

Mardy at 6'6" is a lot more versatile on D and his a heady ball player that can feed the post and set people up.

I think Mardy is still hurt and the Knicks are going to bring him along slowly. I agree about JOnes. We obviously could use a good perimeter defender, but for the longterm benefit of the Knicks, IT should have kept Nichols.

if Mardy's hurt, then play the rook Chandler & see what he's got, especially guarding a big SF like Lebron... yeah he's a rook, but i'll take my chances w/him over 6'2" teacher's pet Jones... there will be games where playing Jones will make sense, last night wasn't 1 of them.

Demetris Nichols will be lucky to make it off the inactive list. Let alone find his way into a Cavs game.

Can Camby guard Lebron?

Um nobody can "guard" Lebron. But the knicks needed somebody to slow him down.

Let it be known: I believe in the Knicks this year-- deep into the playoffs, I swear to you my brothers...

Those few times that Jones was running the point for us could have been the difference in the game. He does not look inspiring.

Balkman, Mardy, and even Lee still look a little unjured

That leaves Chandler and I'd be fine with that
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

That's probably why he doesn't get playing time under Isiah. He plays defense.

fred jones sucks. . . but he is still better than JJ2 even if its by default and i don't think i need to remind anyone that JJ2 has a spot on our rotation

JJ2 didn't play the other night... the fact that he has a roster spot is a joke tho, i'll agree w/u on that one... combine him & Turd together & we have about $60 million dollars worth of crap taking up 2 roster spots that could have otherwise been filled w/more talented players making minimum salaries.

I think Mardy is one of those types of players (PGs) who has a hard time contributing on offense when the ball isn't in his hands. He did extremely well as the primary ball handler in his starting opportunities, but struggled in the preseason both this year and last when he isn't given the role as lead guard.

Maybe Isiah doesn't like Mardy that much. I also think that Nate playing good enough to make isiah doubt Marbury, let alone Mardy, has alot to do with him being buried.

I really think Mardy hasnt fully shaken off his rust after his surgery and he might still be in some pain so there's really no point to risk him so early in the season. If Isiah is bringing him along slowly then it's fine by me, but if by All Star break and Fdy Jones is still getting more burn ahead of him then i would really chalk it up to Isiah's ego. After what he has shown us last season do ppl really think that Jones is a big improvement over him?
