how can you consider a guy who's won 3 championships in a row as a team cancer?

i don't see either 1 of them as a team cancer... ARod for all his primadonna tendencies still works very hard every day on improving his game & he's not a bad teammate... the distractions that come w/the ARod circus may be detrimental to the team, but as far as being a team cancer, i don't think that's fair.

Kobe put the kaibosh on his team winning future championships by forcing the trade of Shaq, the best center in the game at the time. That is pretty malignant.

A-Rod has his own issues, but ever since Shaq was forced to be traded by Kobe (Stupid stupid stupid) the Lakers have never made it past the 1st round. His ego is beyond anyone else's in sports, the way I see it and while he is a great great competitor, he doesn't seem to know how to play with his teammates, as the main man. I think he truely knew how to play with maybe 2 or 3 players in his career and that was Shaq, Robert Horry and Derek Fisher.

I don't think either is. I think both are highly scrutinized b/c they are the best player in their respective sports and have always been percieved as "golden boys."

I agree, A-Rod does get a lot of undeserved crap, but his playoff dissapearing act is something I don't wish to deal with anymore. Kobe, however, seems to start more controversey with teammates than Marbury, and this is AFTER Shaq was traded.

ARod's a good teammate - not a cancer at all. His playoff performance can be questioned, but that's different from being a cancer. Kobe's ridiculous. He doesn't like to share the ball and he doesn't support his teammates. I don't want him on the Knicks.

agreed. any Knick fan that would say they'd be pissed if Kobe were traded to the Knicks are lying out of their teeth.

I thought Shaq came out and said it was not Kobe that did him no good?

I always thing that Baseball Cancers are overrated. Sure a Catcher can be but most postition players are not chemistry based. THey do what they do.

Basketball Divas can kill a team. So by default I pick Kobe.

Bonnie, which would rather share a cell with?

I was talking about a cancer now not many years ago (although I do think Kobe's contribution is overrated and Shaq's underrated to those championships anyway).

why is Kobe a cancer because he's unhappy playing on a team w/crap? the guy wants to win another championship... i thought Shaq came out publically & said the Lakers painted Kobe in an unfair light portraying him as the guy who forced Shaq out of town himself? why are people still holding to the thought that Kobe was the mastermind behind it all when both parties have come out publically & said it wasn't the case?

i don't consider either a cancer now or ever... they're both the best players in their respective sports & both want only to win championships... being a primadonna, fine, i agree with that for both of those guys, even now after the BS grandstanding act that Arod just pulled on my Yankees... he may be an arrogant prick for doing it but he was never a team cancer... they both have huge egos, as do most great players... Michael Jordan was about the most egotistical player i'd ever seen.

OK, I'm going to man up and say it.

I DON'T WANT KOBE TO BE A KNICK.

I will be willing to bet that he never wins another championship in his lifetime.
He's a terrible teammate, and the reason he was able to win the first 3 was because
Shaq's cult of personality was bigger than his own, so he couldn't get away with his
diva act. Never again will he play with another star as big as himself, and he cannot
do it alone because of his aforementioned bad teamsmanship.

Neither are cancers because they're too good for that.

But the clear difference is that Kobe delivers when it counts...

Tie. I wouldn't quite call either a cancer, that's too harsh, but I will say that the personality issues of each player have not helped their teams in recent years.

I agree with that. I think it would be a mistake for the Bulls to break-up this great young core that they have to get Kobe. Just let Kobe continue to suffer in LA.

I don't how you can compare the two because their impact to their teams is much different. If Kobe has a bad game, the Lakers will definitely lose. If A-Rod has a bad game, there is still an excellent chance the Yankees will win. Way more individual pressure on Kobe to perform every game.

I remember a-hol trying to trash the honorable Jeter and then failing four times to get us to the world series. I'd say he's a cancer, because he can't back up the talk and now he's running away, because he's too scared to try again.

How anyone could think Kobe's a cancer is beyond me. This guy just needs a new team. His welcome in L.A. has simply worn out. But the guy is still the most thrilling player out there. I think Buss is going to hold him hostage and make it extremely difficult for 'anyone' to try and take him away. I no longer think we have a prayer in hell of getting him now, now that the brass here srewed up our image.
I'll never trust this' team again.

I find it mind boggling how we have our own attitude in suckbury and how the same case isn't made against this joke. And he's not even worth it, like Kobe. You said it yourself. kobe's twenty times better than suckbury and he's not exactly Ron Artest either. He's the perfect problem to have. I'd take him in a heartbeat. It be stupid not to.
I'll never trust this' team again.
