rick carlisle is available. i mentioned about a year ago how we should scoop him up when the opportunity arises. well, he's just been fired for the pistons (which is absolutely stupid). this is THE BEST young coach in the nba. he took a pistons team with NO PRIMARY SCORER to 50 wins. it's all about team ball and defense. not sure why the pistons would fire him since they have the 2nd pick. i hear they want larry brown, but that's not guaranteed. carmelo or milicic would've made this team an even more solid elite team in the east and close the gap against the nets.

well, here's our chance. i'm sorry but don chaney is not the coach to take this team to the promise land. i think he's horrible. we're not getting larry brown...get rick carlisle.

Good idea. Knicks just don't get it they gave Chaney a contract extension towards the end of the season. Makes you think what the heck is going on in that front office. Well here is the scoop, the Knicks brass wanted a yes man as the coach and they got it with Chaney any big name that comes in will probably take a chunk of power from Layden which is a no no. Dolan doesn't want the best because he only wants playoffs so the dream of a championship is an empty dream for NYK fans.

So are you trying to say Joe Dumars is stupid all of a sudden? You think he doesn't see carlye was about winning games and not developing young talent and winning games. Prince and Okur would have been seasoned for the playoff run if MR defense(Caryle) would have played them more. See what you guys don't see is this , management wants to see if a young stud can play now and develop on the fly, but these these insecure coaches(caryle-vandunce) just want to play vets so they can keep their jobs because of good winning %. Joe dumars want's a coach who isn't insecure about his job but knows how to devlop talent and win games at the same time... THAT'S IS A TRUE COMPANY GUY COACH. GET IN THE KNOW!
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

They've hired Larry Brown, according to ESPN.com. Pistons scheduled a press conference for noon (am assuming noon Central Time).

Something seriously happened from the time Dumars had the press release, shortly after that prompted Carlisle's firing.

Playa, Phil Jackson considered himself a defensive minded coach. His ability to sell Tex Winter's offense is something no other coach has been able to duplicate.....selling your assistant's ideas while getting the job done.

playa2...chauncey billups, richard hamilton, and ben wallace are now "PLAYERS" under carlisle. i didn't realize these guys were 30 and over veterans. and what evidence is there for carlisle being insecure? i think tayshaun prince is another austin croshere. had a good playoff series or two, will probably get a big contract, then stink up the place.

You on point Playa!

I could only wish for Joe Dumars to be the GM of the Knicks. Joe don't see results right away you are gone......not showing the effort? See ya! Not developing talent? See ya!

Wow man I wonder who they are gonna draft? They may just revamp the whole front line.....Dumars has all the options in the world and unlike Layden.....Joe is gonna pull the trigger and often.

JVG bashing again Playa well you are right about all defense coaches they win you games but when it comes to crunch time they just don't have the offensive know how to get the team over the hump. How many games did the Knicks lose by 3-4 points because they couldn't get enough points on the board. People forget that JVG had Ewing, Spree, LJ,Houston and they still struggled to get points on the board. Rick is in the company a good coach but lacking in the offense dept. He will be the Sixers coach next year.

Wow carlilse gets fired after a sucessful tenure in Detroit, chaney gets an extension after missing the playoffs 2 straight years. Now I don't hate chaney, and feel that he is a victim of a bad team but, it goes to show how this organization accepts mediocrity as long as they can sell tickets...

I urge my fellow NYK fans if this team doesn't change drastically to stay away from MSG its in our own best interest to keep away from the Knicks. Not going to games opens up doors to so many positive avenues the organization can take.
1. Dolan sells the team
2. Layden get canned
3. they actually make moves to get superstar players who are healthy
4. They drop the ticket prices

So many good things can happen if you stay away from the Knicks.

Wizards sold a lot of tickets last couple of season but MJ and Collins are history with Honest Abe giving refunds. Silas and Carlisle are both winning coaches only to be released.

With all the coaching vacanies, must be a record season, Dumars did not miss a beat in filling Carlisle's shoes

Hold on a second here. Playa, it was you who for years was telling everyone how great an OFFENSIVE coach Carlisle was. You compared to JVG and said how muich better he was. Now you are saying the guy is defensive? Do you remember that while Bird's assistant in Indiana it was he who ran the offense according to all those involved. Carlisle is known as an offensive coach. The fact that he played defense with a team with no low post player, only shows that he is in fact a smart coach if nothing else.

As for developing young talent, this knock is so off base! Look at Carlisle, he wins 50 games 2 years in a row, gets to the EC finals with a team that had NO business being there and still gets fired. THE LEAGUE IS ABOUT WINNING GAMES! WAKE UP! THE ONLY TIME YOU PLAY YOUNG PLAYERS IS WHEN YOUR TEAM IS PHENOMENAL AND YOU CAN AFFORD TO OR WHEN YOU STINK AND YOU HAVE TO! OTHERWISE THEY PLAY WHEN THEY DESERVE TO PLAY OR WHEN THEY HAVE TO AND NOT JUST FOR DEVELOPMENT!

Playa you still going back on your words....what a shame, what a shame!

Carlisle got stiffed. Can't believe he sat there with Dumars exchaging pleasantries... and I want to thank Joe for firing my azz after a fifty win season and Billups hurt in the playoffs... I guess being a class act helps get him another job but, to me, he seemed like a chump during that press conference.

As far as Dumars... you gotta admit, the man has balls of steel. Getting the guy he wanted even though the incumbent was highly successful.

Fanning ashes? I am just reminding people what you have said before and how you flip flop on things, that is all. Are you denying that what I stated is not true? I can guarantee that they are. As for management booting him for speaking his mind, just remember that I'd rather have a guy who will stand up to management than a YES man like your boy Chaney is!

In any case, I agree with you Pike. I would have never sat there and make nice with Dumars. I would have told him to F...OFF!

The Knicks should dump Chaney and sign Carlise today! It will never happen becaus DOLAN is a YES man himself.

I did praise Carlye when he "took over" The Pistons and Obrien in Boston too, but to say a coach can't lose it with management is LUDICRIOUS! H e didn't know how to talk to player and management, the guy was a loner. Piston's brass gave him some time to mend his communication skills ,but he didn't. Word on the street is: Several players commented, after being swept by the New Jersey Nets, that the Pistons needed to open up the offense.

"We have to find a way to get some easy baskets," Chauncey Billups said minutes after the Pistons lost their fourth straight game to the Nets. "When you don't get out (and run) you don't get a lot of touches, you don't get a lot of easy looks. I love to get in transition. That takes a lot of pressure off your half court because you're getting some easy baskets.

"We've got young guys who are very athletic and can run. We're a great defensive team and I just think if we open it up a little bit that's not going to take away from our defense. We're still going to be a good defensive team."
Caryle thought "HE WAS THE PISTONS"just like vandummy thought he was the knicks, you have to win the title to get the phil jackson respect from players + management.
