Warriors’ Biedrins To Become Free Agent

In the SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS, Geoff Lepper writes “showing a newfound sense of fiscal responsibility, the Warriors will not give Andris Biedrins a contract extension, the center's agent said Sunday night. Although Golden State executives declined to comment, the agent, Bill Duffy, said his player wouldn't get a deal before the NBA-imposed deadline of Wednesday. Unless a last-minute accord is reached, Biedrins, who averaged 9.5 points and 9.3 rebounds per game last season and shot 59.9 percent from the floor, will become a restricted free agent next summer.”

Perfect next to Zach and David Lee. Perfect.

No roster space. Sorry.

And where is Curry going to play if that's your front line? The point?

So would I but Isiah traded 2 lottery picks for him. He's not making him a backup.

I wanted a trade to go down last yr for the guy. I remember I got laughed at for suggesting he'd be a better fit here than Curry.

last year a Curry/Biedrins trade would not have made sense - they are different players. One is a scoring machine the other is a complimentary player who rebounds. We have Curry and Randolph who need to be 1st options in the offense and occupy the post.

I love Biedrins, he is an efficient player and would definitely be a good fit here this season.

Problem is, I don't see us getting him (no surprise there)....

Haha I'm from Riga too. Although I'm Russian, not Latvian.

Anyway, I'm all for dumping Curry in favor of anyone who averages more than 4rpg.

We wouldn't have done much worse than we did last yr not to mention become more of a defensive team. Let Marb and Frye run pick and pop all day long and have Crawford and Biendrins run Screen rolls on the other side. Lee and AB would snag boards and block shots. We still could have made the Zach trade if we wanted to.

A lineup below would be no worse and we could have ran more

Steph/Craw
Q
Lee
Frye
AB

the only thing that would be a perfect fit for the knicks roster - in 2008 or now- would be a bottle of white out that could erase all the mistakes and mismatched parts.

Does Biedrins really provide anything that Lee doesn't already provide or couldn't if he got more burn?

You definatly didn't get laughed at by me. Im a fan of Biendrins.

Why wouldn't they want resign him though. He should be apart of there core. Patrick O'Bryant must be looking really good in practice or something.

Biendrins would be great for this team. Randolph, Biendrins, Lee would be a nice frontcourt. We should be working the phones for a 3 team deal right now to ship Curry out and bring Biendrins in. Id even trade this yrs draft pick top 12protected for Biendrins. Then ship Curry, Crawford, Morris out to Seattle for Ridnour, Wally, & Petro.

Biendrins/Petro/James
Randolph/Lee/Rose
Richardson/Balkman/Chandler/Jefferies
Wally/Nate
Marbury/Ridnour/Collins

I agree. And a QUALITY owner would fire entrenched management and get Biedrins and trade Curry. I mean, Crawford might look good in Golden State if the Knicks took back a bad contract too. Then, the Artest + Kenny Thomas for Curry (+ Nate) trade I saw someone post the other day.

Marbury / Artest / Collins / QRich / Balkman / Randolph / Lee / Biedrins / Morris

I can dream, right?

Hey he's under contract this year and will become a RESTRICTED free agent next year. GS wants to keep him but at market value, so matching an offer instead of making one.

Hey he's under contract this year and will become a RESTRICTED free agent next year. GS wants to keep him but at market value, so matching an offer instead of making one.

Restricted free agency can only occur after the 4th year of a 1st round draft pick's rookie scale contract. More clearly, "a first round draft pick becomes an unrestricted free agent following his second or third season if his team does not exercise its option to extend the player's rookie scale contract for the next season. All other free agency is limited to unrestricted free agency."

See: http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#36

So, no GS is not letting the rest of the NBA set his market price, they are giving him up as a salary cap consideration.

You know I gonna spin wit it
