My father had a brilliant idea for the new coach of the Knicks, I wondered what y'all thought of it. How about Joe Torre? He could keep Herb Williams around as a "bench coach", to help him with all the "Xes and Os".

I want the GM role. I can't possibly be worse than Layden and Isiah.
For starters, I wouldn't trade first rd picks, and certainly not without adequate protection. I also wouldn't spend and waste assets on acquiring overpriced, underachieving losers. And I would pick players who play with passion and actually complement each other instead of being redundant.
These things would seem like common sense, but apparently it's been too much to ask for.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

Consistently trading your draft picks is just not a sustainable model in a salary cap environment. I don't know how the Knicks can miss this simple concept. Throwing away your cheapest, most easily available means of getting talent in a cash restricted scenario is just so foolish.
