The Rutgers women’s basketball coach, C. Vivian Stringer, retracted her criticism of Knicks Coach Isiah Thomas after speaking with him yesterday morning.

Skip to next paragraph In an interview with ESPN that was broadcast Friday, Stringer denounced statements made by Thomas in a court deposition for his sexual-harassment trial. Stringer and Thomas spoke by telephone yesterday morning, and after hearing Thomas’s explanation, Stringer apologized to him.

“The whole situation is most regrettable,” Stringer said in a statement released through Rutgers. “It was not my position to insult Mr. Thomas in any way. I responded to a question of which I had partial information, and was not aware of the full text of Mr. Thomas’s statement.”

In a videotaped deposition that played at the trial, Thomas suggested it was worse for a white man to call a black woman a “bitch” than it was for a black man to use the same insult. Thomas later clarified that he considered it offensive for any man to use the word.

Thomas, who was found liable for harassing a former team executive, Anucha Browne Sanders, has contended since the trial said that his statements were edited and taken out of context by Browne Sanders’s lawyers.

So what. Isiah got on the phone and bull****ted her. Did Isiah play the entire tape for Stringer? Uh no. He was sweet talking her like he does when he gets Jimmy to spend 30 million dollars for a late first round pick. Isiah is a con man.

Isn't the entire tape available to the puclic? I thought it was on the UltimateKnicks page. I think anyone who wants to hear can hear it and this lady probably only heard a portion of it without having the full context.

The full tape is almost 9 hours long and it has never been shown. Zekes lawyers never saw the whole tape till after the trial. That when they discovered how they doctored up the tape. and it they knew in advanced and thought it would not hurt them and if it did they would have grounds for an appeal.

Notice that only 9 people, woops I mean 'hatters' responded to the initial thread that Isles made about Stringers comments, seems like the 'hatters' didn't want to discuss it then either. Much to your chagrin.

It's also funny to see your own comment on the thread, Papabear, in which you said.. "I made up in my mind not to get into this type of talk." Well there you were in that thread posting about it and here you are creating and posting threads of the same type.

So what would the appeal be based on? His lawyer's incompetence?

If only Isiah had the same passion to defend himself in court, as he does with Sharpton and Stringer. It's a much different Isiah, when he's in a court of law and can't just lie and say whatever he wants to make himself look good.

Did Isiah take the stand during his trial? Yeah, I didn't think so.

What I ment was that I would not get into any racial things or calling someone names besides haters.
All I want is the truth to come outin this case. I want Zeke to have the chance to play this team out. Three years ago I had the opertunity to meet Zeke. He said that knicks management wanted to win now. What he wanted to do was build with the draft. The Knicks didn't want that. Like a good soldier he did what they wanted and here we are. This is now Zekes team, lets see what he can do.

all i'm saying is that there could be MANY reasons why statements were retracted.

she obviously felt strong enough to blame him first. then isiah could've called her OR i presented another possiblity why she retracted it.

we're never going to know the entire truth, just like we're not going to know what happened between anucha and msg.

just presenting another possibility.

also curious to know if those tapes were doctored to present a false representation of his comments, why Isiah's lawyers haven't televised the actual version of the tapes to clear things up a little to the general public? their client's name is being dragged through the mud & they do nothing? very curious.

if they found something wrong with the tape, isiah's lawyers could've objected. but they didn't. so either isiah hired the wrong lawyers or this is a diversion tactic.

Browne Sanders' lawyer, Kevin Mintzer, said yesterday that the entire tape was seven hours and the jury heard key excerpts. "There was no objection made to the clip by his many, many lawyers,"Mintzer said.
