Francis said that when he chose to return to the Rockets, where he began his career and made three consecutive All-Star teams, he knew that he would be unlikely to play as much as he had earlier in his career in a crowded Rockets backcourt.

“But not to be in the rotation, to me I don’t think that’s what I’m looking for,” he said. “If that’s the case, I’d have to do something.”

Francis said he did not know what that something would be and had no plans to ask Adelman about where he fits in his plans.

“I turned a lot of money down other places,” he said. “But hopefully it will work out. You never know. I can’t say. I don’t know. I’ll just keep practicing.”

I think that something will be to either rehab in Houston on his own or buy a new suit.

He maybe available to all NBA cities soon. Also, is our Earl Monroe this year Fred Jones? My guess is he is in Europe or a retired free agent next year.

Im convinced that Steve Francis has some sort of substance abuse problem. I have no basis for this besides the fact that he sucks so bad he cant even be the 9th man off the bench for an average team. He should be in his prime, but this former top ten player is just garbage. I wonder why him and Marbs became such fast friends...

I have watched Francis in preseason and it did not look like Tmac was impressed with Francis at all. One game were the Rockets went into overtime Steve kept the ball to himself and did not give it up to Tmac. Tmac looked pissed.

Stevie never learned to play a team game and when he lost a step he had no passion to round out his game.

He has more money than he'll ever need and he is successful in his own right. He really needs to just retire and move on either to somting he wants to do and just do what stevie does.

This guy played JR college an only one year at maryland before he was vaulted into superstardumb. It all came fast and easy for him based on his athletic talent.

This guy in a microcosim is the real true reason why the Knicks are not very good.

A team that is the highest payroll BY FAR with guys that don't live up to their money is not motivated by pride. they are motivated by fear. And thats not enough.

ANyone could see this coming. They picked up Mike James and drafted a pg and still have Alston. How in the hell did Francis think he was going to get minutes with Tracey McGRady and Wells holding down the 2 spot. The Rockets should have never signed him and he should have not gone there. Miami or the Clippers could have used him and would have given him 20 minutes a game guaranteed. It was a bad decision on both sides. I wonder how long before Francis has the knee injury flareup.

He's like a spoiled brat. Shoulda went to play with Cuttino......or where he says he gave up more money to play. Dude still thinks his name holds weight in the league. Adelman is doing the right thing. Francis is a bum......and is still being paid hansomely for it.

This guy has been bitching since he got drafted and forced his hand to get out of playing for Vancouver. He's a poster boy for the selfish, me-first, I'm the Man no matter what anyone says mentality that just needs to be cut out of the league completely.

The Jordan, Magics and Birds built the league through hard work and team first play and then these damn kids just come in and ruined it for awhile. Damn kids get off my lawn! Dang kids and their stickball.

Francis is the victim of a time in the NBA where everyone was looking for the next Jordan. Anytime a player came out of highschool/college with some leaping ability and a fancy dribble they were touted as the next big superstar. They were given shoe contracts, marketed beyond belief, given multibillion dollar contracts and given Franchise Player status without ever having to earn it. The result is a few guys like Francis who felt they had made it before they ever played an NBA game. The result is that Francis is now on the downside of his career and has no desire to figure out why his game isn't working. It's always someone else's fault, never his own(sound familiar)

Like Nalod said, he never learned to play the game. He should have started out as a sixth man(instead of getting the keys to the "franchise") and been forced to earn his rewards.

I re-read this post and just realized that I wrote Marbury instead of Francis. Wow. That was a freudian slip
