With all the negativity from all directions ( most recently the Rutgers coach) it is unlikely that Zeke will beon to holding the reigns of this franchise after November. I believe the search for his replacement is actually going on right now. The way our team is currently constructed may not be a successful as I once thought therefore I propose the question...If you were a general manager that recieved the Knicks after a 5-10 start (I don't think we will actually start with that bad a record) what would you have to do to save their season?
First I would trade Jamal and Curry to the Nuggets for Nene, Najera, Diawara, and Bobby Jones
New York Trade Breakdown Change in Team Outlook: -11.4 ppg, +3.9 rpg, and -1.8 apg. Incoming Players Bobby Jones 6-7 SF from Washington 2.5 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 0.4 apg in 7.7 minutes Yakhouba Diawara 6-7 SF from Pepperdine 4.4 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 0.9 apg in 18.4 minutes Eduardo Najera 6-8 SF from Oklahoma 6.6 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 0.9 apg in 22.1 minutes Nene Hilario 6-11 PF from Brazil (Foreign) 12.2 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 1.2 apg in 26.8 minutes Outgoing Players Jamal Crawford 6-5 SG from Michigan 17.6 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 4.4 apg in 37.3 minutes Eddy Curry 6-11 C from Thornwood (HS) 19.5 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 0.8 apg in 35.2 minutes Denver Trade Breakdown Change in Team Outlook: +11.4 ppg, -3.9 rpg, and +1.8 apg. Incoming Players Jamal Crawford 6-5 SG from Michigan 17.6 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 4.4 apg in 37.3 minutes Eddy Curry 6-11 C from Thornwood (HS) 19.5 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 0.8 apg in 35.2 minutes Outgoing Players Bobby Jones 6-7 SF from Washington 2.5 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 0.4 apg in 7.7 minutes Yakhouba Diawara 6-7 SF from Pepperdine 4.4 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 0.9 apg in 18.4 minutes Eduardo Najera 6-8 SF from Oklahoma 6.6 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 0.9 apg in 22.1 minutes Nene Hilario 6-11 PF from Brazil (Foreign) 12.2 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 1.2 apg in 26.8 minutes
We will more than likely get a first rounder out of that trade
Our line-up would now look like this
Bobby Jones and Jerome James get waived immediately after trade
Marbury, Nate, Q. Rich, Jones, Collins, Diawara (this boy is good) Jeffries, Balkman, Chandler Randolph, Lee, Najera, Rose Nene, Morris
Due to the heavy negative media barrages from to the Anucha trial and crazy offseason actions I relieve Marbury of his duties (waived). This is strictly a P.R. move.
I then I trade Balkman (don't worry you will not die if Balkman is traded) for Kyle Lowry
New York Trade Breakdown Change in Team Outlook: +0.7 ppg, -1.2 rpg, and +2.5 apg. Incoming Players Kyle Lowry 6-0 PG from Villanova 5.6 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 3.2 apg in 17.4 minutes Outgoing Players Renaldo Balkman 6-7 SF from South Carolina 4.9 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 0.7 apg in 15.7 minutes Memphis Trade Breakdown Change in Team Outlook: -0.7 ppg, +1.2 rpg, and -2.5 apg. Incoming Players Renaldo Balkman 6-7 SF from South Carolina 4.9 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 0.7 apg in 15.7 minutes Outgoing Players Kyle Lowry 6-0 PG from Villanova 5.6 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 3.2 apg in 17.4 minutes
The line-up now looks like this
Lowry, Nate Collins, Jones, Diawara Q. Rich, Najera, Jeffries, Chandler Randolph, Lee,Rose Nene, Morris
BOLD : Main rotation
We ride out with that line-up and use our pick and Denver's pick to upgrade the squad in the future. No need for Super billionaire allstars. This is how I would begin fixing the Knicks.
