It should be clear to everyone except the most blinded haters like TrueBlue and Islesfan that defense has become far more important to the players than it ever has. Everytime the players talk, they speak about the importance of defense. It is obvious by the preseason preview that we saw, that Isiah is drilling the team on defensive principals in practice. It's obvious to most that we value defense more than we have since 1999. Now my question is. At what point do we actually start playing it?
This post doesn't make any sense to me. When did I say that it hasn't? Kind of dumb actually. Our players are known to talk about many different things before, during/throughout, and at the end of the season Bip. You can throw in the coaches also. Where was our push, quick offense last yr remember Marbury said "we should run, become more of a uptempo team", Crawford was talking about doing more penetrating to the hole last yr because he saw tons of gaps in defenses and let them off the hook a lot by shooting too many jumpers? Did we/he? What about this yr? How come our guards look like they're having even more difficulty executing an effective power game? That's what it's always been with this team stop talking, STFU, play hard, and execute. I also heard other things over the summer up til now that had nothing to do with defense..... like Lee informing us he'd been working on shooting jumpers so he could log more minutes at the 3, being informed that Nate is trying to learn to play more controlled and play more minutes at the one, Crawford informing us he bulked up so he could over power defenders off the dribble, Marbury informing us he's going to average 10-12dimes and 2-3ast, and how Jeffries was working on his free throw shooting and developing a mid-range jumper. We've heard a lot Bip. But don't let what I posted the other day about the starting line-up not be in harmony with what the players have been talking about. In another thread yesterday here was my proposed starting line-up.....
Mardy
Q
Balkman
Lee
Zach
Followed it up with saying that's probably our best defensive unit we can put out on the floor.
