The fact that the rotation - not to mention the roster - seems to be determined is one of the reasons Allan Houston cut short his comeback attempt. It's also why rookie Demetris Nichols, according to a person with knowledge of the situation, has asked that he be cut if he doesn't have a fair shot at a roster spot. The Knicks have denied Nichols' request, despite the fact that he has seen very little time not only in preseason games but in practice. Nichols did not play last night.

"We haven't made up our mind on anyone," Thomas said before the game. "At the end of this process, we'll let you know."

That little bastard has a hell of a nerve. First he refuses to go to Europe, now he asks to be cut. Isiah should keep him on the bench and go Larry Brown on his ass and keep him around until his confidences is shattered.

Then the Knicks can cut him.

Isiah is such a ****ing scumbag.

If you're not going to give him a fair chance, and I doubt there's a single person on this board who thinks he's getting a fair chance, then let him go and try to find another team who will. He doesn't even get time in practice??

And all because he refused to get stashed in Europe. I guess with everything going around with Isiah, he feels the need to exert his power over somebody to let them know who the boss is.

Why did we even bother to trade for him at this point?

The Celtics could use a shooter and another defender at the 2/3. Nichols would be a good fit.

I hope Nichols comes back to burn Isiah.

That is hillarious. He is taking bad advice. But really the rule should be that you can stash a player in the D league and not have it count against your roster of 15.

with the problems that q is having at the 3, it doesnt look like he will be able to go for a full season and balkman still injured (although IMHO - not a true starter by any stretch of the means yet), nichols would help fill that void a bit - at least he can score if needed to. problem is we are log jammed with a bunch of "never will be's" playing the guard spots and have NO-ONE else to play the 3 outside of balkman.

i actually heard that the folks within the hallowed walls of MSG believe crawford will be a LOCK to make the eastern conference all star team this year....can you just imagine that happening? yeah, me neither.

This is really pissing me off. Demetris Nichols should be on this team, no exceptions. His agent went behind his back and made a deal with Isiah that he would agree to play in Europe. So Nichols fired the guy and says that he doesnt want to play in Europe.

And really, who can blame him? The agent messed him up. But regardless of getting slighted by the agent Nichols should be on the team. He is simply a better player than some of the guys we have here. They should be gone and he should have a roster spot, it really is just that simple.

(Edited because I missed an important point).

Nichols should just spit in his face every time he sees him in person.

Over Ray Allen, Vince Carter, Ben Gordon, Richard Hamilton, Michael Redd, Joe Johnson, Dwyane Wade and Gilbert Arenas?

I want some of whatever they're smoking.

That's my question. If he wasn't going to make the team, or unwilling to cut the fat, why throw away a future second round pick for him?

As for Europe, he has every right to say he doesn't want to play in Europe, but then that's where his rights end. Now he has to wait till Isiah is good and ready. That's what a draft is all about. Tough ****.

Question of the WEEK^

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I explained this on another board but the Nichols ship sailed when we only tendered him a partial one-year contract. What kind of way is that to keep hold of your players? In year one, a ROOKIE year, with a slew of SFs in front of him (including the one and only Mayor and the one and only Balkster) when was he ever going to get a chance to play?

You think after his one year was done he would have happily re-upped?

Stop being like a Child who found out Santa isn't real. Nichols was a longshot to make the team as a rookie SF in the first place. When he was traded for we showed we like him and we had a plan for him. When he rejected that plan, we said fine... you get a partial contract, come win a spot in Training camp.

Is he beating out Chandler or Balkman? Was he gonna play at all this year or was he gonna be sitting in a suit for 82 games?

At least you can make a case that we don't have too many Centers on the roster and we should keep the big turd. But we have so many SFs and some promising young ones who need playing time.

Nichols wasn't even supposed to be on this years' squad if he had done what was asked and gone to Europe. So why expect him to make the team as a rookie?

Make your peace with it and move forward.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Fine. SO trade him. He is an asset with SOME value.

But OH. We can't do that. Why? Cuz everyone knows Isiah is screwed with his roster mess, and not willing to offer anything of value to help him out of it.

And if he wasn't going to make the team because of a SF glut, why did we trade for him in the first place?
