Congratulations on a successful trade.
Due to New York and L.A. Lakers being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. New York and L.A. Lakers had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The conventional wisdom on Zack is the Lakers coulda had him on the cheap before he was traded to us. So there is thought to be no interest.

I think our shot at Kobe is to offer Salary Cap Relief.

Next year, Marbury (who makes the same $ as Kobe) is an ending salary.

Add in three of our young guys still on their rookie contracts, a 2013 first rounder, and 3mil made out to Jerry Buss.

You have a potential deal.

Marbury, Lee, Balkman, Collins, future#1, $3mil for Kobe/VladRad.

cap relief means nothing to the lakers b/c if kobe opts out and leaves, they'll be under the cap anyway. they need as much young talent as possible which we don't have to offer.

They would be better off, taking deng, thabo and ben gordon than the crap the knicks would give them and the bulls would do that trade in a heartbeat and probably throw in their pick

Isiah only trades for players other teams DONT want. Kobe is wanted around the league.

Isiah is only good at bidding against himself. The Lakers will have other bidders.

Kobe don't want to play with Marbury or for Isiah.

NYC is great, but kobe leaves one zoo for much worse organization.

Bulls have the guns but do they have the desire to do that deal and benchmark the franchise to a very special, but a Diva player?
