Not really, do you? I think Isiah's ego plays a much greater role. Fred jones is a low point on Isiah's draft record and I think he'd like to prove his critics wrong. And the reason I ascribe jones to Isiah in that way (opposed to Walsh) is that Jones seems like a prototypical Isiah draft choice to me.
OTOH, it's also possible that Jones personality was a calming influence on that turbulent Pacers team, so he might like Jones on some personal level.
It's possible, but he might be Isiah's reclamation project like you are saying. I don't agree with many that Jones is a useless player. He just not as good as he was supposed to be. He's gotten time and put up some solid numbers but with low percentages and better than average defense from the little I've seen.
He's probably just too short for his game.
Isn't Nichols supposed to be more of a pure shooter than some of those guys?
They all had their question marks. Carrol was quite good at Notre Dame, but he had to prove he could drive enough to keep defenses honest as well as guard his man at this level. It took him a few years and teams.
Barnes was always considered athletic and a decent defensive player, but he was so skinny, he had to prove he could physically play in the NBA as well as score enough not to be a liability.
Udoka and Daiwara have the pro physique, they had to improve their skillset (I believe Diawara is much younger.)
Similarly, I think Nichols looks awfully thin and undeveloped compared to most NBA guys. That makes me question his D, and I haven't seen anything to make me believe he is even average at defense for the NBA. I don't see that he has much to offer beside lining it up and shooting. I saw a black hole mentality from him during summer league and I don't think he is good enough to play that way.
Don't get me wrong, I think he is a borderline NBA player right now. I just don't think he can offer much at this time. In my view it's not like he is a raw potential star. So I wouldn't worry too much about him.
Maybe sometime I'll try a fantasy league, but I don't even know how they work, and you guys test my knowledge enough as it is...
I hope you'll be active on the board again.
Well, my drop in participation was always a foregone conclusion. My business has been growing for the past few years and I am at the point now where I have to be very careful with my use of time. I'm around a little more now because I am laid up on crutches and it's getting near the season so I am a little more interested.
I'll probably check in when things are actually happen to talk about, but I have lost my zest for going over the same 3 arguments day in and day out, you know what I am saying?
Anyway, as far as fantasy league, there isn't that much to know. You draft the players you think will do well and you play them. You can make trades, waive players and it's fun. It kind of lets you do the arguing with the actual players, instead of long-winded paragraphs quoted to the syllable.

Check you later,
