FROM MIKE DOUGHERTY'S BLOG:

I assume everyone is settling in and warming up the set … if you’re looking for Stephon Marbury or Allan Houston tonight against the Nets, they’ll be on the bench in very nice suits.

They are getting a night off.

Here’s the reasoning behind parking Marbury:

“I wanted to try some different combinations,” Isiah Thomas said. “I want to take a look at Jamal at the point. I want to take a look Nate at the point. I want to try to get Wilson Chandler some more time and take a look at Quentin Richardson at the two spot. So I just wanted to try some different combinations before I settle on the nine or 10 guys who’ll play.”

Later in the pregame conversation, he admitted the shuffle was a reaction to last night’s woeful start up in Boston.

More on that later … I need something to do while third-stringers are running around.

Here’s the reasoning behind parking Houston:

“I just don’t feel there’s a need to play him in a back-to-back situation,” Thomas said. “We know what he can do. We know what he’s capable of doing. He doesn’t need to prove it.”

But four questions later, he confirmed what everybody’s been thinking.

Thomas was asked whether he would describe Houston’s chances as slim.

“I would say that’s accurate,” Thomas said.

Houston didn’t make a fuss.

“This is their call,” he said. “I’m not angry. I’m not angry with the call. After sitting out for three years, I don’t really look at back-to-back, practice days or what we’re doing, I just thought it was a good day to rest as well.”

It’s not what I expected to hear from a player who needs every minute to prove he’s still capable of competing at game speed.

So does he see the writing on the wall?

“Um, you’ve got all kind of thoughts going through your head, but at the end of the day, my focus is on the here and now,” Houston said. “When I’m on the bench tonight, I’m seeing how I can help the team get better. I don’t want to cloud my mind with stuff that’s not going to help.”

Stay tuned, more coming.

Come on, don't you think he deserves the night off after last night?

Relax, Starbury has this stuff down.

Now shutup and get in the truck.

Curry can't guard Magloire? He scored on him as if he wasn't there. We aren't going to stop anybody.

Houston played 6min yesterday WTF kind of reasoning is this?

and Kristic is nailing 3's while we're turning the ball over like a hot potato. It's brutal yet comical watching us.

Exactly. People talk like this team is going to be competitive agains the Nets. What we should be talking about is how much the Nets are going to beat us by.
I'll never trust this' team again.
