October 18, 2007 -- BOSTON - Jerome James' right-knee injury is more serious than the Knicks have let on - and could force him to have season-ending surgery, The Post has learned.

James told The Post last night the "hardware" in his knee from a 1999 reconstructive surgery to repair a torn ACL is being rejected by his body, causing massive swelling and fluid to build up.

However, the Knicks backup center vowed he will postpone the surgery until summer, feeling he can get back healthy enough to play a limited role.

But James wouldn't say what he'd do if the pain and swelling does not subside.

Officially, the Knicks have announced vaguely James has knee tendinitis. He has not practiced fully during training camp and missed last night's 101-61 blowout loss in Boston.

*

Knicks are monitoring the Kobe Bryant soap opera, but indications are they will not place Eddy Curry in any trade, making a deal near impossible. Plus, Bryant would have to waive his no-trade clause to make a deal happen, and the Knicks no longer are high on his list.

*

Stephon Marbury (9 points, 2 assists) believes the Celtics had an advantage this summer in the Kevin Garnett sweepstakes because of Wolves president Kevin McHale's ties to the Celtics as a former legendary Boston forward.

"[McHale] would rather have him play where [McHale] played than him going to another team," Marbury told The Post. "I think that was in the family, that deal."

I think it's finaly time for isiah to admit he is an idiot and hasn't made one good acquisition outside of zach in the free agency/trade market, buy this lump of **** out. He is taking up space and brings nothing to the table aside from comedic value.

I would much rather have someone like Houston on the bench for veteran leadership, we need to start getting rid of these guys in order to become a good team. Crawford and Nate should be next we need to open up time for energetic team players.....

Marbury/Collins
Chandler/Houston
Q/Balkman
Zach/Lee
Curry/Rose

The more defenders the better, the more we limit the time eddy spends on the floor the better, the more time we give to chandler, lee, and balkman the less we play from behind. The two are going to stunt the offense and there is going to no movement, they are turnover prone players that can't pass.

In a way this may be ok for the Knicks. Maybe they can get an roster exemption.

It's been evident that James has to go since his NY career started. As a player he is nothing more than a contract guy that once got the money he wanted just shut it down. Its ridiculous he is still on an NBA team. And the "You never have enough Centers" excuse is pathetic since I'd rather have no centers and a player that actually contributes or has a good future than an useless player like him.

If Allan and/or Nicholis are waved in favor of this guy it should be another horrible decision in the ever-growing list of mistakes by Isiah Thomas.

Isiah has to go...

James said he would avoid the surgery to be able to play limited minutes this season. The guy is a joke! Make him take the freaking surgery, shut him down the whole season and create more space for a guy like Allan or Nichols.

We cannot let this guy go. We need a fifteenth string capable center in case everyone on the team gets hurt.
I just hope that people will like me

If we can get a roster exemption for him, then IT needs to tell JJ1 to go get the surgery, not now, but RIGHT NOW. Then IT will have to decide between Nichols and Houston for the final spot.

So you think Isiah took a pipe and hit Jerom in the uncle?

I sprained my uncle once. It took 4 weeks to recover. Then first time back on the court, I sprained the other uncle.

wonder if there might be an effort underway to get him to retire- that we we get a cap relief, jj1 gets his full money.

I don't know- but his knee sounds bad if his previous injury is rejecting material they put in.

But how is that possible? How can JJ1's body reject surgical material, when he is the king of junk food?

There's no room for both the junk food and the surgical material. Something has to go.

Would it really matter otherwise? Here we go again. Balkman out for a month. Curry already hurts his shoulder. And now big useless is hurt. OH Gosh! We haven't even begun the season yet and it's a sign of whats to come. I hate being so damn negative, but I just expect this **** to keep happening.
I'll never trust this' team again.

I wonder if this could be a roster spot that can open up for Nichols, if Allan is to be on the 15?

How the hell does a person get injuried when they do nothing but eating pork chops and apple fishcakes all day? James tell us what you are really doing with your extra time.
