Just wanted to see what people think. I think we have seen Kobe play his last game as a laker and I would be very surprised if a trade didnt go down in the next 10 days.

I agree. If the rumors are correct, it's Dallas or Chicago. In a way, I hope it's Chicago and they make the mistake of including Deng.

Ditto, I think it will be Dallas for some reason.

I don't see Dallas parting with Dirk to get Kobe. Dallas could trade for Kobe but they would be no better than before. Chicago seems very likely, especially with all this talk about not extending Gordon.

my prediction is he plays out the 1st half as a Laker & they explore trades at the deadline but nothing gets done... I see Kobe dictating a trade via sign & trade in the offseason to either Chicago or NY with Phil Jackson not far behind.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

I don't think they are going to trade him until December or January. It's Kobe, so it is not like they are going to lose leverage closer to the deadline because everyone will still want him. Winning solves alot of problems. They will probably see how the team does and if it is still average, they will then make a move. Chicago would top the list, but I still believe that we have assets that the Lakers would want. It will really depend on if we are winning. If the Knicks are a plus .500 team at the end of December, I would think that Kobe's and the Laker's interest in our players would increase significantly.

Excellent insight on your part. I agree that the players that the Knicks have now will be seen in a different light if the Knicks are playing winning basketball. That alone will make their value increase.

kobe in chicago: living up to the mj standard.
bulls have solid players for this type of trade....it would not surprise me

kobe in dallas: why would buss trade to the competition...no martinis on this trade

kobe in canada: my longshot. didnt jackson make good comments on chris bosh. this will be one heck of a move for nba basketball in canada.

kobe in new york: the obvious market, the natural choice, the mecca is your playground. i know zeke can make this happen. can the fans appreciate this ?
"Like they always say, New York is the Mecca of basketball,"I read that in Michael Jordan books my whole life and I played here in the Big East tournament, so it's always fun to play in the Mecca of basketball."---Rip Hamilton

Lakerground.net is the equivalent of this board. Many posters there said there was a report on an LA radio station that a deal is done with Dallas...Plus, Avery Johnson said he is unsure who is starting at the 2-guard this year...take it for what its worth but many of the different posters heard the same report and they are bugging...

Dallas Trades:

Terry
Howard
Diop (exp deal)
Two #1 picks

Dallas Receives:

KOBE

Dallas New SL

Devin Harris
Kobe Bryant
Trenton Hassell
Dirk
Dampier

LA New SL

D-Fish
Terry
Howard
Odom
Bynum

It works...there may be some filler (i.e., Ager and other spare parts)

Some over there believe that Buss is trying to force the Bulls hand. Who knows.

If I was a betting-gal, its definitely Dallas or Chicago...

I think Kobe's a laker for the season. At the very least the trade deadline.

Thats a horrible deal if the Lakers agree to taake that package from Dallas, when they could get much better packages elsewhere. I think the Bulls package (even without Deng) is a better package than the Dallas one. Terry is on the otherside of his career, Diop is a contract casualty, and the two first round picks mind aswell be second rounders. Howard is a good get, but surely not enough for Kobe.

I agree. I can only guess that if this rumor was released it's to make teams that considered themselves out of the running think, "Gee, if that's all they're asking maybe we do have a shot at Kobe" and up their offers.

Are we forgetting he can opt out in less than 2yrs so the more you give up, the greater you increase the difficulty of his team winning it all, which means rental KOME. To be honest KOME's value isn't nor should be that high, he's a volatile and unpredictable player with a mind that can and will turn on you in a heartbeat.

Like any superstar, Kobe's not going anywhere he doesn't want to go.

I read today that Kobe has the only active no-trade clause in the league. He will go where he wants. The Lakers will want to send him East. Chicago is the only reasonable destination.

BUT if we start winning and begin the year strong, I think Kobe will re-consider us. Its better for the Lakers to get more teams in the EAST involved in the bidding. So we have to do out best to convince Kobe that not only are we gonna be good, we'll have enough left to surround him with in the East to be an NBA finalist.

The NETS have as good a shot at anyone too. Vince and RJ for Kobe and filler would be a good enough deal for Buss to take.

AM570: Reports out of Chicago say the Bulls can have Kobe Bryant if they are willing to give up 4-young players. The Lakers reportedly want Joachim Noah, Ben Gordon, Andres Nocioni and Tyus Thomas and possibly a lst round draft pick.
