"Substitution," Thomas said. "If it continues to happen to that guard, we sub and we find somebody that won't let it happen. The answer is not, 'Eddy, do something,' the answer is 'You do something or I'll find somebody else to do what you can't do.'"

And there's the value of Jones, who is athletic and tenacious and has an improved, quirky jump shot.

"It's good to be on the team," Jones said of Thomas' endorsement, "but when you want minutes, then you've got to continue to work. That's what I'm here for, to continue to work, push guys and try to get into the rotation."

i'm glad that freddy fixes our back court problems, and I look forward to him solidifying the position for the next five years.

who needs kobe when you have freddy 'lock down' jones.

of course, it could be that his defense looks so good in comparison to what isiah has had to watch with marbury and crawford.

better than poor is not great.

Isiah is in a win now situation. So you go out and get some extra picks to let them loose cuz you got 20 players.

I don't know if Freddy "boom boom" JOnes is the answer, but Isiah won't likely be around when Nicols becomes Glen Rice.

The master talent evaluator strikes again, jones couldn't make it in indy, he was traded in toronto when they didn't have a backup 2, and portland didn't even play him

Interesting - he impressed Isiah by guarding who? Allan Huston or couple of rookies?

Is the hating of the hater like a double negative? If Isiah is a hater, does that make Isiah-haters Knick lovers?

This can only be answered by one of the great philosophers of our time. Where is MissesEarl when we need her.

The backcourt defender should be Mardy Collins.

What kind of player is Jones on the offensive end? Is he Trenton Hassel w/ hops (i.e. poor offensive player or does he have some ability like our own Mardy Collins)?

Thats the thing right there. Mardy Collins does more things well than Jones and gives you the same defense, so jones on the roster is redudant. Wilson Chandler can do similiar things to jones and actually score the ball a little.

If Isiah wasn't so ****ing clueless we wouldn't have to make decisions like this because james and jefferies wouldn't be on the roster taking up roster spots long term. its sickening the lack of vision gms have.

Collins needs more minutes, jones doesn't need any because he isn't part of an overall plan

the lack of vision is Isiah-

and this is why I am becoming a pure hater.

This team needs to acknowledge that they are in a rebuilding mode. Great to compete this year, but decisions should be based on who can help this team more in 2-5 years- not who might give you one good year.

I agree with you but I don't think Fred Jones is capable of one good year. Your talking about an undersized two guard who doesn't stroke the jumper. The 'potential label' that he had when he was the 14th pick is no longer there. I also have never heard of Jones' great defense before this training camp.

Stop the hate! Fred Jones still has the same potential he had when he was the 15th pick.

Well I still don't know that much about his game, but you've proven that in Indy he had the unique skill of penetrating to his right and dunking in slow motion.
