You heard it from the mouth of the next superstar Lebron James, "VANGUMBY" as his coach... he's not intrested!. First name he spoke on was Larry Brown not jeff. Did anyone see the facial expression jeff made when Lebron made that comment? He actually looked like that before... when his name was introuduced coach of the Eastern Conf all-stars(didn't belong). This truth is known by a high school kid that VD is overrated and is one dimensional defensive minded coach. I still can't believe so many knick fans have been duped by his winning with a veteran team makes him a elite coach. Larry Brown can work with youth and veteran players alike. I for one hopes Jeff coaches next yr , if he would have coached Cleveland he would have ruin those young guys no doubt. Jeff is nothing but a clone of other coaches in which the game has passed him by!

I wouldn't take too much into what Lebron has to say - this is the same kid who made bad jersery purchasing decisions.

Larry Brown has proven to everyone that he is a good teaching coach, but that's not to say that VG is not.... although certainly, to date, he has been far from it - but who has he had to work with? VG is definitely defensive minded, but that doesn't make him one dimensional. Given a bunch of guys to work with, you go with their strength. Defense was it.

VG must have a lot of teams fooled into thinking he is NOT an overrated coach: Toronto, Cleveland, Houston, New York. You might want to explain yourself.

i can't see van gundy being a better fit in cleveland than silas.

i think silas would be better than larry brown. brown did not do much in Indiana, and actually was key in dealing away all the "talent" that passed through philly, because they didn't "mesh" with allen iverson. it's his job to make it mesh, but instead, he left the team a mess, with no talent on the squad but allen. tim thomas, stackhouse, larry hughes (who has serious hops), etc, etc. all gone.

Martin, you my homie... but before you diss Lebron remember he didn't "purchase" any throw back Jersey's. They were "GIVEN" to him "FREE" by a sporting goods store for keeping good grades AND FOR THOSE REASON'S HE WAS SUSPENDED. Now back to Vanstupid, you say he has Toronto, Cleveland, Houston , NEWYORK nose's open? Look at the teams you named, none of them can do any worse so hireing the lil coach is a know brainer(he has a winning record with 1 team). They would hire him based on his pass not his future direction on where basketball is going, because he hasn't coached anywhere but NY. Jeff has you guys looking in the past for his future results and that is where he has many NY fans DUPED! Vandummy coaching in the WEST would really expose his prehistoric philosophy, he would be the Rick Carlyle of the west. He has spied the whole league for a yr by "Mic Jacking" only to promote himself. Houston is desperate they have no head coach he has a serious disease, Cleveland hasn't had a coach since Nance won the Slam DuNK Competition and Toronto had a coach who has found out the hard way that the game has passed him by (what do they have to lose). Larry Brown by announcing his resignation in philly, has put Jeff back in his place (a glorified assistant coach)

Tkf ,I WONDER WHY YOU CALL IT HATE. I dislike jeff because of how he manipulated others into getting what he wanted with no track record and learned how to win games with a veteran crew and took credit for being a great "HEAD COACH" I THINK MANY ARE BLINDED TO THE FACT THAT HE HASN'T WON ANYTHING ANYWHERE ELSE TO BE PUT IN AN ELITE CATERGORY AS A HEAD COACH. Tell me this what has Jeff showed NY fans outside of ny what he can do as another teams head coach? BIG CRICKETS SOUNDS NOW

Look how silas help developed jamaal Maglore along, see how Baron Davis improved every yr since he has been in the league, that is what we should be looking for . Now to defend silas , his teams have gotten the injury bug late in season or in plauyoffs so his post season record hasn't been the best.I would rank Silas over vandummy too.

I didnt feel Lebron dissed JVG. Lebron is friends with AI. Any wannabe star would love to hook up with Brown. Brown went all out for Iverson. Lebron wants that kind of treatment if he wants to be #1.

I am not sure you can Van Gundy a dumby or stupid. Also, you were contradicting yourself when you say he manipulated others. You need some brain power to accomplish that feat. I would describe Jeff as an above average coach due to his defensive mindset and his attention to detail. Did you listen to his post game interviews? He knew the details of the games and the history of his team with their opponents. Plus, he knew who were the alpha dogs in his team and he rode them hard.

What I disliked about Jeff was that he was very stubborn. He never developed any young talent. I am going to get a lot of flak for this but he killed Weiss' value during the summer league. He just totally destroyed his confidence. I mean even if Weiss was a cream puff, he is still 7'. Any other coach would have built his value and would have traded him for a mid to late first round pick seeking for height. Everybody is looking for height.

Great coach he is not, but I am praying for either the Cavs, Rockets or any other team to pick him up before July 1st so that we can get some compensation in return.

I loved it, yeah playa it looks like I'm the only one who agrees with you on this. JVG isn't a coach who can handle young players he is all about veterans. I can see why LeBron doesn't want him his offense is stale at best. He is all defensive coach and you saw what happens to defense without offense you get far into the playoffs but you won't win a championship with it just as the old NYK teams and this years Detroit Pistons. I think a place like Philly, Houston or Hornets would be better suited for JVG because most of the players there are already developed.

paul silas has had as much talent in the eastern conference the last 3 or 4 years and the best this guy has done is what? 5th seed? 2nd round playoff exits??

he has had a pg. sg. sf. pf. and a center every single year and ...every single year he has been on the decline...

when you have a playoff caliber team and you get fired...read between the lines

"rick carlile" of the west? wasn't rick carlile coach of the year last year and runner up this year?

oh, and if you listen to van gundy at all this year, he has NEVER hyped himself or position for a coaching job, he is always complimenting other coaches and saying they are perfect for thier jobs.........van gundy does not need to politic for jobs because everyone knows he can coach.

Are you kidding Jeff? 7 million Dollars for a one dimesional coach "QUIT PLAYING"? Can't you guys see he's now making sure he doesn't coach 7 MIL, because the lil diet coke drinker will get exposed! Jeff is slick , but i'm slimy...he doesn't fool me. Jeff can "talk" x's and o's with the best of them but he can't deal with the young players today. Iverson would cause him to buy some glasses to hide the bags under his eyes from crying so much. Let's wait and see if Vandummy gets some run. Larry Brown is living on past laurels of his reputation and still fails to produce a championship. he is a good coach in a league that lacks competitive coaching.

You think Brown could win 50 games if he was in Detroit....heck no!

Give Carlisle Philly, they be balling like Jersey.
