Maccabi has four former NBA players, including Vonteego Cummings and Marcus Fizer. Cummings, who scored 21 points, had guaranteed a victory.

Marbury smiled and said, "Well, he played victorious."

The Knicks had seven guys in double figures, led by Jamal Crawford's 16. Zach Randolph added 15 with 7 boards and Fred Jones and David Lee each scored 14.

I understand the trial is important news, but the kvetching over the crowd reaction to Isiah pre-empted any details about players performances or combinations. I did find one great shot at the middle of one page howevver:

Oh, I almost forgot, the standard boxed-in thinking: the Eddy Curry/ Zach Randolph frontcourt will never work

the crowd was basically 95-99% jewish. not only that but i would say that 50% of the crowd was under the age of 18. there were busses dropping off a ton of kids from hebrew school. everyone was wearing either maccabi garb or garb with jewish lettering.

this was not anywhere close to a normal knicks crowd. any booing resulted in the opposing team NOT being maccabi. if they played the nets, the nets were getting booed.

when the knicks did anything good, you heard nothing - but that's not b/c people hated the knicks, it was b/c nobody was there to watch them.

National media can't talk about important issues that affect our lives and the Sports media cant stay on sports. At least they are consistent.

dj - I understand the dynamics of the vocal Maccabi fans based on the noble cause-related promotion for the hospitial. I get that. What don't get is the lopsided media obssesssion over the reaction to Isiah over the any analysis or reporting on the game itself.

Look at this mornings headlines and content and tell me where is the stuff about the Knicks players? Oh, I just caught a news flash - Allan Houston must earn a spot. Okayfine.

There are a bunch of compelling stories as all the Knicks compete for roster spots and cohere as a team. Do we really need an Anucha rehash with each and every article?

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to pick up the Media's attempt to make a story where there isn't one. They seem almost disappointed that Isiah isn't getting killed.
The thing is that they still have to say he's "alleged" to have made the comments and actions he's accused of, cuz this wasn't a criminal trial and there still wasn't overwhelming proof that he actually said any of the things claimed. The jury believes that it's "most likely" that he said those things to her but that's not proof beyond a shadow of a doubt.

They want Stern to step in over a civil trial decision? Come on! He may well be a real jerk and he could've done at least some of the things he's accused of, but they're basically callling for his job over some rough language and a vague come on.

nixluva - who did the shot of Zach Randolph shooting the hook remind you of?

I love this game summary, attached a rehash of thc case and related opinion, the best of all:

"(Game)Notes: Randolph got his first taste of parkway flooding in Westchester and was a late arrival. The draft-night acquisition pulled on warm-ups, then stopped to ask for directions. "Which way to the court?" he said. ... David Lee started again for the injured Eddy Curry. ... The Knicks went 0 for 8 from the field to start the game and were down 12-3 in the early going. ... Crawford had 16 points to lead the Knicks, and Randolph added 15 points and seven rebounds. ... Allan Houston was not at the game. He will be at practice today."
