I noticed that Lee's rebounding numbers are down even though he has gotten over 20 minutes a game. I wonder if Lee will still average 10 reounds now that he is playing with a forward who can actually rebound. We should be one of the best rebounding teams in the league, especially once Balkman comes back.

A lot!! Zach Randolph might also have a better opportunity going for offensive rebounds when he is in the post so he will definitely take 2 or 3 rebounds away from Lee. I really didn't think he should but looks like Lee needs to play some SF and up his defense and jump shooting.

Its a lot easier to share rebounds than touches on the offensive end. David's not a traditional, box out stay under the basket rebounder either. He uses his athleticism and grabs a lot of long boards. He gets "different" rebounds than Zach. While you might see the number go down per minute, b/c Zach will be taking a lot of shots and therefore will take a lot of the opportunities to rebound his own misses, I don't think Lee's raw numbers will go down that much (assuming he gets a bit more playing time).

And if the Knicks sure up on defense (or really suck at offense) or pick up the overall pace of the game, you could see an increase in rebounding opportunities there too.

Who cares about David's numbers, we are not his agent?
The only number I care about are the number of wins.

The numbers which will be interesting to see are plus/minus for the team when Lee is on the court and on the bench.
This will show if he has an impact. The points and rebounds per game are more for Fantasy league lovers.
From numbers will be interesting to see how lee, Zach, and Eddy will do with block shots, assists, and stills. And of course how easy their opponents will score on them.
I expect Lee overall production to decline at 1/3 as his playing time will probably will be 2/3 from last year.

Lemme get this straight

Zach Randoph is going to down Eddy Curry's scoring, clog the ball flow in the paint and hurt David Lee's precious rebounding numbers?

Sheesh

The guy DEFINATELY needs to go

Maybe the better question is will David Lee hurt Zach Randolph's rebounding numbers?

why should individual numbers matter so long as zach and lee surround ALL the rebounds.

Like Killa said, "The only number I care about are the number of wins."

Who cares about individual stats?

The more important numbers are team turnovers and team assists. If the Knicks can reduce the former and increase the latter then it will be a very good year.

We were a top rebounding team last year without Zach and I'd expect that we'd be even tougher this year. I don't see an issue here. I think this will make this team even more potent. We have some serious rebounding throughout the lineup and in particular with Zach and Lee. It's the other team that needs to be concerned with a lack of rebound opportunities not our own players.

What teams usually do when they have 3 C/PFs who must start and have big minutes to use their potential?
I guess they trade one to get value in the weak areas of the team roster.
Sooner or later trade is inevitable.
And we all know who has value to go like hot potato.

arkrud - it is a false assumption that the entire frontcourt "must" start, or get "big" minutes for a team to be effective.

Last I checked, Bill Walton, Chet Walker and Bob McAdoo all did fairly well off the bench in reduced roles.

The Knicks don't have ego problems arkrud ... unless there are some juicy quotes to quote

I will make this prediction if Lee get 28 minutes per game he will be 3rd on the team in assists, 1st in blocks, and the top rebounder. If they dont give him minutes then trade him for a guard he has the most trade value of anyone on your team.

King1 - who cares about Lee's numbers?

Why not care about Jamal's numbers?

or Mardy Collins numbers?

I dont care about his numbers he is the only role player on this team. What I am saying is if you only use him 20 minutes a game then you should trade him and fill in bigger holes on this team. This team has no balance and is a high maintenance team. Curry, Steph, Zach, and Crawford need shots. No one wants to block shots or play defense. We blocked two shots last night against Maccabi. We dont take care of the basketball, and we arent an efficient team. I want the Knicks to win every game this year but after watching them I want to be realistic.

Earl I care about everyone numbers on this team. I want Jamal, Steph, Nate, and Quentin to shoot over 44% this year. They all shot close to 40% last year which is awful. I want everyone to try and shave off a .5 turnover a game. That would give us an extra 6 points a game. I want the bigs all to average at least 1 block per game. Did I miss anyone?
