Isiah Expecting 'Warm Reception' From MSG Crowd On Thursday
October 11, 2007 - 12:38 pm
New York Daily News -

When the Knicks face Maccabi Elite of Tel Aviv in an exhibition game on Thursday night, Isiah Thomas will be back on the bench for the first time since a jury found that he sexually harassed former Garden executive Anucha Browne Sanders. The three-week trial tarnished the image of the Knicks and damaged Thomas' reputation.

"I think I'll get a warm reception," Thomas said yesterday. "I don't think that the things that have gone on will affect the way people feel about me. Just from walking around New York and being in the city and even getting back I've received a lot of love so to speak, letters and support from different people."

In her testimony, Browne Sanders claimed that Thomas made a derogatory comment about season-ticket holders. When Browne Sanders reminded Thomas that most of the season-ticket subscribers are white, Thomas allegedly replied: "I don't give a ---- about these white people." Thomas has vehemently denied making that statement.

Also, in a videotaped deposition, Thomas said: "A white man calling a black female 'bitch,' that is wrong with me. I am not accepting that. That's a problem for me."

I'm curious to see what kind of reception he gets. Obviously I hope people let him have it and boo like crazy with several "Fire Isiah" chants going up. But I think there will only be some boos, 50% boos 50% polite applause at best.

Let's Go Maccabi.

I'm sure the Garden will pump in very loud cheering crowd noise when Isiah makes his grand entrance. Just like the Nets do when they have 6 fans in attendance.

As per Dolan's request, all Isiah protesters will get tazed.

This was from the Daily News last season...

Isiah keeps on fanning flames

Thomas takes shot at Garden crowd's basketball IQ

BY FRANK ISOLA
DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER

Isiah Thomas cautioned reporters yesterday not to turn the Knicks' season into a battle of wills between the embattled head coach and the team's disgruntled fan base. But it may be too late.

The fans already have started chanting "Fire Thomas," and Thomas didn't help himself after practice yesterday when he said that Wednesday's crowd at Madison Square Garden had the wrong take on the Knicks' 113-102 loss to Washington.

"I can't expect them to understand the game the way I understand it or see it the way we see it," Thomas said. "It's better that the punishment is given to myself than to the players. The players got to think and move free and perform. We had a good day today."

11 point loss at home and it's considered a "good day" This is why most people want Isiah gone. This sort of stuff might fly in Utah, but not in NYC.

Wait what am I saying....NO this would not fly in Utah or anywhere else. An 11 point loss is still a God damn 11 point loss!!!

majorleads - you have any articles from Janauary 2007, as the Knicks started winning games and winning the fans back with inspired basketball?

Never mind, pass the pitchforks.

This from the guy who was pawning off a Lupica article from January 2004, praising Marbury.

Sheesh

I can't wait to see my Knicks play some ball tonight, and see Zach Randolph in a Knick Uni for the first time.

Who is with me?

The author of this article might as well be calling for fans to boo him. And the poster of this article might as well be doing the same.
