“No, we can use the people on the floor,” Coach Isiah Thomas said. “We got enough guys that have been through some tough times in this league. We don’t necessarily need a locker-room monitor. We need a guy that can play.”

The hard reality of Houston’s feel-good comeback attempt is that the Knicks probably have no room for him. They are carrying 15 guaranteed contracts, the league maximum. They have four players — Jamal Crawford, Mardy Collins, Fred Jones and Nate Robinson — to rotate at shooting guard, and several others who can play there.

If the Knicks could open a roster spot, it would probably go to the rookie Demetris Nichols, a sharpshooter who is 13 years younger than Houston. The Knicks seemed to extend the invitation to Houston out of a sense of obligation.

So I SAY UGH calls Houston in so many words by the signing a Locker Room Monitor.

Well eVil cracked this case real early. This is shaping up to be a season of turmoil and disaster.

Isiah clearly wasn't part of the decision of bringing Houston here. He clearly does not seem thrilled. Once again, Isiah doing a great job defending these players. He and Marbury and Dolan did it to Francis and Rose and now Isiah is doing it to Houston, saying "We need guys who can play." Great welcoming. Isiah has the professionalism, of well, Isiah.

I disagree with Isiah. The Knicks do need a locker-room monitor, and Houston is just the man for the job.
