Anybody have any clue how the following are during Rush Hour on a Friday? I'm trying to figure out how early I should leave from Long Island to get to Weschester (Hartsdale.) Maybe Solace can answer:

Throgs Neck Bridge
The Sprain
Hutchinson parkway.

Cheerios.

During rush hour on Friday? Good luck. The earlier you leave the better. Friday around 6 pm is DEATH for driving into Westchester from what I remember. I remember driving from Adelphi (Garden City) to Yonkers a few years ago on a Friday evening and that part of the ride was about an hour and 45 mins. I took the Hutch.

That being said, I usually go for the Whitestone and take the Hutch, because for some reason I remember it generally being faster some of the other routes when I was going to Yonkers or White Plains. Plus the Hutch is very windy, which I kind of liked because it kept me awake and focused.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

The Whitestone feeds you right into the hutch, doesn't it? And is Whitestone closer from me (Massapequa) on the Cross Island than the Throgs Neck?

Give yourself an extra 30-60. Throgs Neck goes into Bruckner/CBX/I-95 which is hideously bad during rush hour. The Hutch and Sprain aren't that bad though but they are spotty when you first hit Yonkers/Mt. Vernon.

My goal is to get there between 6:30, 6:45. You think leaving at 4:30 is a good idea?

If you take the Cross Island, you'll hit both. Throgs Neck comes up first on the right when you're on the Cross Island, then if you take the Cross Island a while further, you'll meet up with the Van Wick just before you hit the Whitestone (I think just stay in the middle lane). I like the Whitestone Bridge, I like the Hutch (just my preference -- I know my father prefers the Throgs Neck)... but on Friday if you're any where near rush hour, it sucks.

I just took a look at the map, I think the Hutch is your best bet. It looks like there's also the Bronx River Parkway, which looks like it cuts through Hartsdale. I've never taken that one, so I can't comment on it.

If you leave a little earlier, you're probably safer, but my guess is you can probably make it if you leave at 4:30. Friday afternoon/early evening traffic is the worst for driving into Westchester. Someone may have a better idea, though, because I haven't done it in a few years at that time.

Yeah, I guess you're right. Something tells me I should leave super early, like at 3,just to be super safe and if I get there real early, I can prolly just find something to do around the town until that time. This girl complained about me getting freaking late the last time, and I left my house early, and the traffic was GOOD! Yikees.

Anyway, thanks a bunch Solace, K22 and a special thanks to basketball Jones. I decided I'll be leaving at 6 am tommorrow morning, hoping that I'll be there at 6:30 tonight. In all seriousness, I'll be leaving at 3:30 to 4. Prolly taking the Whitestone.
