Thomas already has proved he will bench Marbury if need be. Last November, when, Marbury now admits, he was not in shape, Thomas sat him a few times in the second half of games. Once Marbury got himself in condition and bought into the system that focused on Curry, the former all-star guard played his best games as a Knick.

Now Marbury must defer even more with the arrival of power forward Zach Randolph, not to mention the emergence of Jamal Crawford as a consistent scorer. The Knicks need Marbury less for his trademark scoring and more to be a quarterback and defensive player.

After this forgettable offseason, most Garden officials might tell you they'd also prefer him to be seen and not heard.

Marbury. He's clearly in better shape than a year ago, when he was benched by Thomas several times late in games the first month of the season, and he's invoking his born-again chops as often as possible. Whether that portends a better season than the last two injury-riddled ones or even gets a few more teammates to just like him (which many don't) is to be determined.

Marv - I'll grant you that Marbury has always felt he never met a shot he didn't like, but don't you think that with a more demanding frontcourt, #3 better keep his smaller head up or Zach will let him hear it?

BasketballJones - could it be that Marbury and (cough) Marion Jones (Barry Bonds) shared the same pharmacist?

And all this time I thought Marbury was perfect just the way he was.

Marv - is there a slim possibility that you refer to as "calling people out" is nothing more than good old-fashioned debate. It would seem that the so-called "problem" with my scribbles is nothing more than two adults having a conversation.

What's the problem?

Marbury was on the juice. Yeah, I said it. You seen the difference in his hat size? What's the big deal?

Certainly that cannot be any worse than the insulting names most use for him. Strange, I don't see you jumping to his defense on any of the stream of "unsubstantiated" insuting names that are nothing more than a harmless game.

I see Marbury skipping Italy and joining the WWE to fight Kurt Thomas, at some point.

(For some reason, all the 'roids talk made me think of the WWE.)

if people call him names they're expressing their feelings about him. if someone says he's taking steroids they should back up their claim. you're attributing it to a perceived change in his head size and a difference in his public behavior. you have any other info, heard rumors, read internet stories, have some eyewitness reports to refer us to? stating

is presenting it as fact, and that’s a totally different story than people dissing him out of personal dislike.

This is a misterearl post - he is saying he believes Marbury was on the juice.
