According to MSNBC, NYC taxpayers--not Dolan or Cablevision--will pay for Isiah's lawsuit because of an agreement the Knicks reached with the city in the 1970s when they threatened to move the team. Anyone have more info. on this? I just heard it on TV.

Bonn1997 - nice try

you find a professional franchise ANYWHERE that does not have a sweetheart relationship with its municipality and I'll show you some nice pictures of the Baltimore Colts packing their gear in the Allied Van Lines trucks in the middle of the night.

It ain't your money dude.

But your money does supply weapons and material for Iraq.

So that confirms rather than contradicts what I just said

Does it really matter ? The whole "it's your money" "it's not your money" thing is a bit old. Who really cares ? If people cared so much, they would A. stop buying tickets to any Garden event.
B. Cancel their cable and switch to satellite.

We get the point, Thomas and Dolan are reckless with the money.

Michael6835 - you are correct. I'm done talking about money.

Let's talk about Marbury...

You must be a either very wealthy and you don't care what happens with your money or not wealthy and you still don't care what happens with your money.

Let's get this straight. It ain't your money. You gave it to the Garden for tickets or for access to the MSG network. Oh, and you also gave it to them through your taxes and your con ed bill.

It ain't your money no more. It's theirs now.

I don't fret over things i have no control over. I'm not trying to attack you, I'm just saying the money thing is a bit overplayed. Let's focus on Basketball.

Damn, that sucks Bonn. If Layden was GM of the team and this happened, these people would be complaining about the financial loss, but they can't put their love of Isiah aside to step into reality for just a moment.

Jones hit it on the head: "It ain't your money no more. It's theirs now." Isiah should be arrested as a crook.

your missing the point. I believe I was the first person earl said this too. Its got nothing to do with being reckless. Its got to do with managing resources. Money is a resource, just like draft picks, players, etc

My beef was never that MSG spent money, rather that they wasted it

MSG's ability to spend should be an unfair advantage, instead Isiah and co have turned it into a crutch. Thats been my beef all along. It would be nice to overpay for stars. Instead we overpay for Jerome James, Marbury, Crawford, Francis, guys nobody else wanted and only caused us more problems once we got them

But this is a new year and I am sure we will crack 40 wins

Bingo. Seems pretty basic. Nobody here would buy a broken down shed for $700,000, they'd want a nice house for that price. Everyone here has enough financial sense to know that that would be a major ripoff. Yet when Isiah does it, it gets excused as if it's no big deal.

Mike,
your point is well taken and I agree with you, we should be overpaying for stars. But the reality is we are not, and hammering home the money topic every other day is getting old.

Solace, this has nothing to do with a love for anyone, it's just an honest feeling. How many times are we going to complain about the money situation ?

As many times as it takes for some of the lovers to actually take it into consideration.

As far as it getting old, what gets old is the Knicks losing due to bad management decisions. It's been over 6 years of bad management decisions. Aren't you tired of that?

not excused,
some just don't feel the need to harp on it over and over again. Again there is nothing anyone on this board can do about roster decisions. This F'ed up cap situation was a problem long before Thomas came on, he only exacerbated it. We all know that, so what is complaining about it going to solve. Maybe every disgruntled fan should write a strongly worded letter to MSG detailing their dislikes with the current direction.

So what you're saying is that we should just enjoy the team and shut up like loyal subjects? Sorry, I'm not sipping the kool aid (or the bong in Marbury's case).

indeed, I am tired of losing. But at the same time, I am not going to sit here and lament about the past seasons when we have a whole new season to look forward to. This is where we differ, I see the glass as half full and look forward to watching the team play this year. I look forward to cheering and hope that they make the playoffs and come out strong.

You have already given up on this season, you have already written the team off and would rather sit and type about how bad it has been. How much money is being spent, how many games below .500 we were, how many playoffs we missed, etc. Glass is half empty attitude. You guys are definitely pessimists and morale killers. You call yourself being a realist but what fan goes through every season waiting for their team to fail. Honestly I get nailed for being a Knicks fan all the time, but some of the stuff i read on this board trumps anything said to me by any of the non fans i run into.

I get your point that things get repetitive here but I felt this was new information. It takes the idea that Dolan and Isiah are wasting our money to a whole new extreme in that we're now paying for their criminal behavior! If I'm gonna pay for criminal behavior, I at least want to be the one who has the pleasure of committing the crime!!!

I remember those days back when I used the "it aint your money" argument and you would correct me! I actually do learn from observations and I've seen over the entire decade that spending recklessly in the NBA doesn't pay off.
