What the fruchenglaugha did Houston say?

I don't have a direct quote from his post lottery interview...but he was saying stuff like....we are not in rebuilding mode....we are still just tyring to pick up pieces to make the team better.....I feel we were right there...if the team were healthy....

The Knicks simply can't keep plugging holes. If the Knicks sign PJ Brown...how much better is PJ from Weatherspoon? I think Spoon is a better rebounder and better defender. PJ is just height. I bet the Knicks wind up signing this old bum and all of a sudden think they are a healthy McDyess from clinching an 8th seed.

I read threads today talking about Outlaw and and other young dudes....the Knicks need to do that and try not to screw the team up any further with BS trades. Bottom line is they need to waive Ward, Travis, Postel, Pope and Nailon. With those roster spots the Knicks can stack up a bunch of young prospects that will be ready to get sweaty by the time Spree's contract is up in 2 years.

If this was the Daily News forum I would have add a whole bunch of internet thug catch phrases(inside joke). With all the moderators around I'll bite my tongue.

i have to agree, spoon is definatley not a better defender or rebounder. spoon is 6'4 and weighs 300 and can't make a layup to save his mommas life.

Brown's is a better defender and rebounder but, I know what you were trying to point out. The Houston comments is an example of why we never get anywhere. It's a narrow minded, short term dilusional way of looking at things and it is the very mindset that has kept the Knicks from making any progress whatsoever.

You premise is 100% correct, EnySpree.

Oh we must be able to do better than picking up P.J. (Puxxy Juice)Brown. He gets no love over here. Let Rat Riley take him back. We can get someone better than Spoon to snatch boards (and jump for rebounds/putbacks like he really cares) for us. Hopefully we can find a sucker- oh, I mean team- to take Spoon and that contract off our cap.

I also agree with getting rid of Knight, Postell, and Pope, but Ward and Nailon could be somewhat tradeable assets.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

The point Hardcore is, the Knicks have to stop deluding themselves into thinking they're "contenders" and need to admit they need to rebuild. They have to start thinking long term instead of what we think we need to do to make the playoffs.... with ill conceived quick fixes.

Look at some of Layden's brilliant moves... the Mark Jackson trade... obviously short term

Erik Strickland for Donnell Harvey

Glen Rice trade... Weatherspoon free agent signing.... etc., etc.

Look what guys like Dumars, St. Jean, West and Kiki are doing... building a solid foundation which bodes well for their respective futures.

I agree, Pike...

What it comes down to is the decisionmakers at the helm:
Look what guys like Dumars, St. Jean, West and Kiki are doing... building a solid foundation which bodes well for their respective futures.

We need someone who has a clear enough short and long-term vision to make things right again here. This is a large market team (actually the largest), that theoretically has the money to bring in top-notch decisionmakers. All of the names you listed run small to medium-market teams. We should have someone just as good as- if not better than- those guys here in NY.

Maybe one day...

Exactly....
They added Spoon cuz Spoon put up a 10pt, 9 reb average the previous year in Cleveland. Othella was the starter most of the year, especially in the second half. Tell me that wasn't the dumbest thing you ever heard of in your life. Now PJ Brown is on the bubble? My point is PJ isn't better than either Spoon or Othella. If the Knicks sign PJ....I dunno what I would do.

Donnell Harvey isn't an all-star but he's left handed and athletic. He could start for NY at the 3 with no problem. Every year he's played he has taken his game a step closer to being a good player. Next year he may be someone that comes up in casual conversation more often.

And the dude looks like Old Dirty from Wu-Tang.

Donnell Harvey was a very good draft choice by the Knicks. He was a McDonald's All American. One of the most highly regarded high school kids in the country and had (I believe) one promising year at Florida.

He was just the kind of player we needed, big, athletic and huge potential and what does Scottie do?

This is yet another perfect example of what is wrong with the Knicks.

Pike I agree, the harvey trade was stupid and shortsighted, Harvey is no superstar but he is a similar player to that of spoon and Pj brown, his offense is still raw but he can rebound, defend and is athletic and very young, now the knicks have to overpay for veterans on the downside to do the simple dirty work that young cheap players like harvey can do, but at 1/3 the price..

Layden has to begin thinking along the lines of making moves not just to get good, but moves that will benefit the team in the long run, for example, like spree said, PJ brown is not much better than spoon, better yes but is he going to be a difference maker for the knicks? no!! so why waste the money, draft a young kid and let him grow into the role, how will this hurt the knicks....

All I remember watching the knicks nuggets game is Harvey, nene, and camby just jumping all over our front line..... All 3 were knicks property!!!
we went from athletic to geriatric!!! LOL...

Problem is you have to factor in the draft pick that was traded along with Strickland for Harrington. That could have ended up being Jamaal Tinsley.
