Since when does a scrub like this get his number retired? Who's next for SA, Kevin Willis and Vinny Del Negro??

Scrub? When a guy plays his role, acts as a leader, helps his team to a championship and remains loyal to that team, he gets rewarded. Why is this a foreign concept to Knicks fans? There's more to the game than just points!!!

You know whose a scrub? Stephon Marbury.

Avery Johnson was the leader of some great SA teams. It's not always about numbers.

so should we retire charlie ward & john stark's numbers? LJ, Mason & Oakley?

Are they giving it to him as thanks for getting outcoached in the play offs by G State? Because if they got to SA, they might have taken them down?

I would not have retired his number, but he was the floor leader for all of those SA championship teams, and he had a solid career. It is not always about stats. Avery is the one who really ran those teams even though Robinson and Duncan got the credit. Again, I probably would not have retired his number, but I can understand why they would do it.
