Dan Dickau, Fred Jones, Jared Jefferies, Jerome James. I don't care if it's via buyout, trade, waive, doesn't matter. We need them off the roster so we can keep Nichols, and sign Allan Houston. And I can't tell you how much all of these young players on our roster need someone like Houston (Or another vet, even if it's freaking Reggie Miller) to look up to. He doesn't even have to play a lot. Just be someone who can work with these guys, come in for a certain amount of times, help the younger guys keep their heads straight, or how dare I say, provide some jumpshooting which we need anyway, and keep the defense more honest.

God knows Nate could use it the most.

How come there are 3 black guys and only one white guy? Why not take James off the list and throw in Balkman to even things out? Racist

I would keep Jefferies, there might be some use for him. Im tired of people giving up on him, damn! it was just one year.

Just kidding. We really have to do something to trim the fat. We've cut our losses with 5 or 6 players that weren't producing in the past so we may as well finish the task until we get a roster of guys that are ready to committ to winning. For my money I would get rid of James no questions asked. Yes we may need a backup center by we need to raise the standard here. We haven't done it in a few years so let's do it now. Make the players accountable. If you come into camp out of shape and don't produce on the floor you need to be gone. We should not tolerate guys like JJ no matter how much for some reason some feel we need him.

As for the second guy I'd have to say Jones. I'm not sure of where he fits on this team. At least Dickau can provide us with some "true" PG play. And at least JJ2 can give us some length up front. Not sure where Jones fits. If I had to cut a third guy I would cut Dickau over Jeffries. Jeffries isn't the best player in the world but he isn't the worst. He also plays hard and makes an attempt to defend. He's overpaid but he is not the type of player that you just cut IMO

I'd partially agree, but the problem is this. While he is a decent defender, he's not even particularly great, and we signed him to the full MLE for purely that. We did what BOTH Layden and Isiah have done with the past, and took a player who is decent at one thing, and overemphasized it and made him one of the more important pieces of our team.

I don't mind Jefferies as a player. I can't be too critical of him, himself. He is what he is, and he got the money, just like all the others. He does his best on the court. He just shouldn't be on the team cause he doesn't fit.

Jerome, on the other hand, I am critical of. We spent good money on him, and he comes into camp out of shape and he does nothing to help himself nor the team. He needs to go.

I agree Bip, Jefferies would be my 4th choice.

As a Knick fan all I needed to see was Jerome calling for a sub 5 minutes into a game(halfway into the season) to realize that we needed to move on from him.

I have no problem with this group I would even try to move nate i think it would help considerable to get rid of a few roster spots to bring houston in to work with guys and make a few shot here and there nothing crazy.

I think sending Nate, Crawford for Artest would be a nice move and then you could waive jones and dickau and have a very balanced roster. I don't see dolan paying players to go away this year especially when he has to give anucha 10 mill

If Nichols was here and bombed I could live with that. If Nichols is cut and bombs I would be upset. It's time to start trimming the fat and take chances on hungry guys. These guys that get the team focus away from basketball need to be gone. It can't keep happening.

Yeah, but the purpose, in my mind, is to bring Houston to work WITH Nate and Crawford so they can better themselves. I have not a doubt in my mind that this can be the case.

And for the record, as much as I like Artest the player, I can't see how anyone can want someone of his personality on on this team, with everything that's going on. We have WAAAAAAY enough distractions. I think peace and quiet and stable should be the way to be, after this trial. Not worrying about when Ronny will blow up.

At least Nate and Crawford have room for improvement and STILL have star potential that can be worked on. If it were up to me, I'd just rid this team of Isiah as soon as we can, so we can find a no nonsense guy who will get right to the meat of the matter and work on the things those 2 need to work on, as well as everyone else.

Bringing him in would shock me too. Just remember, we have his fraternal twin brothers, Stephon Marbury and Zach Rondolf, already on the team. We are already worried if Zach will punch somebody in the face or get in trouble at a strip club, or Marbury messing up the team chemistry. We don't need to worry about Ron doing similar things. If we want defense, we should have just kept Trevor.

Our future is on the backs of two young and talented big men. One who has a questionable past and another that has shown no work ethic. It's imperative for us as a team to bring in leaders that can help show them the way to win or else 5 years from now we are still going to be wondering why they haven't grown.

You'd be ripping out the heart and soul of the team.

Houston has said that he's very interested in a situation that would involve mentoring. He would be a good influence on the younger players. You mentioned Nate and Craw. You might add Nichols to that group.

Nice catch Jones. I was suckered into thinking this was a conversation about the Knicks. When in reality all Allanfan wanted to talk about was his one true love.

Bip, come on man, why go on assumptions like that. Just b/c I bought him a few bouquets of flowers, European chocolates and burned him a cd of all his favorite music does not mean he's my one true love.

Good point, you did the same for Eisley.
