Really not that great I guess. Didn't realize he was such a bad FT shooter. I'd still trade him though (if it were salary cap possible) for one of our never to be used point guards.

Andrew, you're right, most of the time I see Ostertag it's against the Spurs or the Lakers i.e teams with a great frontcourt. How does Ostertag fare against the rest of the league though??

Bottom line is we need a center and though Ostertag may not be the best choice, he will do. Let's just leave it at that.

I've never been impressed with Ostertag. I would be happier to give MC around 42 mpg, and let Felton/Othella pick up the slack.
We suck.

I'd say give marcus 38 mins at C, Thomas can handle 6 minutes there, making 44 minutes, let Felton/ Harrington split the last 4 minutes there.

Wait a second here. Spree was one of the top minute/game players in the NBA last season and he only averaged 39. He is a fitness mad man. Camby bulked up, but his position alone, banging with the big guys, will wear him out quicker. Also foul trouble will play a role in reducing his court time. I'll be estatic with a slight improvement to 35 minutes/game...and more importantly, more games played.

I think we need a big body to back up camby when he is in foul trouble or gets hurt. Also when we go up against philly or the lakers we need a big body to bang down low. Camby is a better help defender and cant handle big bodies like shaq or Mutombo. they could have easily taken care of this in teh draft by taking ken johnson or woods.

Don't know much about Ken Johnson, but Woods is far less physical than even Camby. My personal opinion is that Woods will not be a factor in the NBA, either injured too much, or not strong enough.

Marcus is ready for the challenge...

"I know I'll be an important factor. I'm like the only size we have here, so I know my being on the court is going to be critical."

I'm hoping for less injuries, less fouls, and more minutes. Remember: the Cambyman can!
We suck.

The exception is just a one time deal. We don't get it next year. Too bad we didn't use it on someone.

I guess it was better not to spend it rather to spend it on someone who would never play. This could also be a good thing that Layden didn't spend it if he has some sort of plan and can improve the team through a trade very soon. As much as a lot of you hate the thought of getting Greg Ostertag, the fact is we need a player like him and for Ward i would do it. He is capable of 3-4 points and 3-4 boards in those 12 minutes or so that Camby doesn't play. If he does that, we will have gotten what we wanted out of him.

Word has it that we could be done w/ a buyout for LJ soon. LJ does want to get paid the entire contract n then the Knicks will seek a medical exception or somethin. Hopefully we won't waste it again but I wouldn't be surprised if we did. If we rn't going to use I'd rather keep LJ on the playoff n stretch roster. We should have forced both LJ n Luc to retire at the same time ($6.6 mil).
