Speaking of the Clippers, the Knicks have been showing interest in L.A.'s second-round pick, PG Jared Jordan. New York has a packed roster, but a source says coach Isiah Thomas has been high on Jordan dating back to the Orlando predraft camp. ...

Jared Jordan

NBA Comparison: Steve Blake
Strengths: Has a lot of point guard abilities such as the ability to control tempo, great court vision, high basketball IQ and veteran leadership … Patient player who keeps his dribble alive instead of over-penetrating and forcing passes … Great standstill shooter from the perimeter who can convert when left open … Surprising rebounder despite his strength/athleticism for his position … Strong player who understands how to use his body to shield off defenders on drives to the basket … Pesky perimeter defender, thanks to his footwork and anticipation skills … Hustler who has no problem doing the dirty work like diving on the floor for loose balls … Constantly looks to push the ball up the court to ignite the fast break … Great decision maker with the ball in his hands … Plays the game with a great deal of intensity and determination … Has no problem handling most defensive pressure due to his calm demeanor … Has three point range on his jumper … Decent finisher on his drives to the basket and can finish with either hand … Does an excellent of distributing to open teammates …

Weaknesses: Although decently quick, Jordan struggles to gain full separation from his defender … Inconsistent jump shooter who can go through big periods of hot/cold streaks … Could struggle to defend the NBA point guards due to his average lateral quickness … Not a great at shooting off the dribble or working off screens … Doesn’t have the body type that the NBA covets while listed at 6-2, could be shorter and lacks strength … To compound matters his arms aren’t long enough to make up for his average quickness … Has NBA range but lacks consistentcy to make 3s with regularity … Potential may be limited as he doesn’t appear to have very far to go before he reaches the ceiling … Can be a little turnover prone which to his credit is due in part to his team’s personnel as he is the only quality ball handler …

i don't know...he seems like a good player but we already have mardy. the problem is we have too many similar guys that are pretty talented but not enough playing time for them. we need to put together a big 3 for 1 kind of trade - we have marbury nate mardy crawford jones dickau all in the backcourt - we need mardy OR a guy like jared jordan backing up marbury and a decent shooting guard with size if nate can't cut it. the main area we should be looking to upgrade is the 3 since Q's health is a question mark, then maybe the 2 if we can get someone better than craw

That could be something to think about. Nate for Jared Jordan and a future second rounder or whatever it takes to make that work.

Interesting but letting Nate go to a big market with no youth at point guard and without their leading scorer brand? Nate could blow up into a major star.

Anyway, coming back to earth for a second, maybe a bigger trade could work to help clear some roster spots, eh?

I think we hav a trade exception from trading Frye. We could be talking about just trading that for Jordan.

IF this is true, then is shows that Isiah likely realizes he needs a PG with true PG skills and mentality. I would guess that he feels we have so much offense, that we won't be effected in the least by moving a guy like Nate in order to get a more solid distributor on the roster.

Jared isn't a great athlete, but you've gotta love his head for the game and passing skills. I just wonder if we can make a big enough deal to clear some roster space. How sweet would it be to have Chandler & Nichols out there with Jared making passes in a year or 2?

I kinda agree with this but would phrase it differently. Isiah realizes that we have post players and that the offense is geared towards them and we need a PG that compliments that style. We don't have sooo much offense, we have offense that doesn't need scoring PGs and we have bigs that need a back court that can stop or slow down penetration.

Pretty much. Jordan would compliment the bigs offensively (not so much defensively) because he seems to be an imaginitive passer. You dont always want your pg to just lob the ball into the post and make your big man work for all of his points. Jordan may be able to get them a couple of easy baskets per game.

Also, he seems to be a good spot up shooter which will help when the opposing team tries to double up on the bigs and the ball swings to Jordan at the top of the key. But with all that said, Jordan has to prove that he can be a servicable back-up let alone a starter in this league.

It'd be hilarious if we just cut all the deadweight off the roster.

I'd love to see the JJ's cut and Rose allowed to become a coach somewhere.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

JJ3?
If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

No way in hell I trade Nate for this guy. The list of weaknesses was just damning. The fact that he is compared to Steve Blake makes me yawn...That yawn would turn into a cringe if he donned the orange and blue.

I know we need to further balance the roster, considering we're stacked with players whose primary value is scoring, but this guy does not look like any sort of a solution. Either a fake ass story, or its a smokescreen.

NAte is more valuable than this kid. I like him, but he has alot to prove before I would trade Nate for him straight up. Now if we could give them Nate and Dan Dickau for JJ3 and a protected 1st round pick, that might be worth doing just to clear the roster spot and give us another asset.
