Like everyone else, I was aware that Crawford got off to an awful start last season and then played better until his season ending injury at the end of February. I wanted to get a more specific idea of how much better Jamal shot before his injury, so I went to a game log and crunced his shooting numbers from the field and from the 3 point line. From the field, he was 53/129 for a weak 41%. His treys were better at 21/56=37.5%. As we all know, he's a good passer for a 2, but a weak defender. All in all, I still think this is a position I'd still like to see improved when the right opportunity comes.

I'd like to see him traded is what I'd like to see.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

their salaries are almost identical but unless we take back every bad contract of theirs its not gonna happen. they just signed Kevin Martin longterm. Why would they want 4 years of Crawford?
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

They might still be thinking (in spite of what they say) of moving Bibby and want to play Crawford at the point. Pg is probably his best position.

From what I saw later in the season, it looked like jamal was more decisive in what he was doing. He didn't get caught in the middle of 2 thoughts like he tends to do. He either spotted up and took the open shot or he drove strong. If he was feeding the post he did that and wasn't doing the streetball thing on the perimeter. As long as he's clear on what he wants to do, he's effective. There's really nothing wrong with his BB talents, it's all in his head.

Having Zach should make things easier for him, cuz his decisions will be limited. Either make the pass or spot up and shoot it. On the occasions when the defense is up close, drive around them. There should be fewer times when it's not clear what he should do. This goes for all the guards. When you have just one main option on offense, its easier for teams to take that away and force our guards to hesitate and then call their own number. Of course if they were better PG's then we would see them think of other options, but since they get so locked in on that one play they get a BRAIN FREEZE. This is when Jamal, Nate or Steph fall back on what they know, which is the streetball type stuff. Now tho, with another big time option in Zach, they can feel just as comfortable in swinging the ball to him and this should make guys like Jamal more comfortable.

Why we need player with something wrong with his head?
Actually we have so many headcases that substracting one (but not for another in Artest) will be nice.

Fine, Jamal, Balkman, & a bag of roasted peanuts from the vendor across the street for Artest.

There is a HUGE difference between Jamal as a bench player and Jamal as a starter. Since Jamal is going to be our starting SG on this team, lets look at what he did as a STARTER...and he would have STARTED the rest of the season, had he not been injured the final 24 games of the season. Oh and we went 7-17 during the final 24 games of the season.

Jamal Crawford as a STARTER...36 games

Jamal Crawford as a STARTER:

RECORD: 18-18

20.8 ppg (#1 on team as a starter)
42% FG
35% 3-FG
87% FT (5.0 FTA per game)
5.0 apg (marbury has 5.5 apg)
3.6 rpg
1.1 spg (#1 on team)
40.2 mpg (#1 on team)

Jamal Starting: 36 games...18-18
Jamal off the bench record: 22 games...8-14
Jamal out with injury: 24 games...7-17

THESE ARE FACTS...not opinion.

I don't want Crawford anywhere near this team.

40 minutes just to score 20 points??

Jesus.

not a good idea to trade a guy who can impact a game as much as Artest can and brings none of the baggage

^ Yea because when I think stifling man defense and scoring ability, I think of Renaldo Balkman...

And when you think about Rebounding you should think about Renaldo too. And when you think about the ability to control his ego and play a team game and not take jumpers with Antoine-Walkeresque abandon, you should think about Balkman too.

Artest's defense is good but his offense is not efficient. Balkman has very efficient offense and the potential to be as good on defense. He is younger and can already rebound at a much higher rate.

And he won't implode on us.
