Kings' Martin Agrees To Deal
August 28, 2007 - 9:46 am
Sacramento Bee -

According to two league sources, fourth-year shooting guard Kevin Martin late Monday night agreed to a five-year contract extension with the Kings worth about $55 million.

Martin, whose breakout 2006-07 season will vault him into the upper pay ranks of NBA shooting guards, unexpectedly flew in from his training hub at the IMG Academies in Bradenton, Fla., and arrived in Sacramento on Monday in anticipation of signing his new contract. A news conference is expected this week to announce the deal.

The Kings had until Oct. 31 to finalize an extension or allow him to become a free agent next offseason, but discussions between Kings basketball president Geoff Petrie and Martin's agent, Jason Levien, began in early August

Dude, I thought you meant Kenyon was getting another extension, and I was just gonna laugh at the Nuggets.

Good job by the Kings. Kevin Martin is turning out to be some player. These are the players we give these contracts to, and it's not even that big of a contract. Not the Jerome James, Jared Jefferies of the world.

Ok, at first I thought Kmart meant that Marbury was signing an exclusive contract with the store to sell his line of economically viable clothing. Then I thought of Kenyon Martin. Then I realized it was Kevin. 10-11 mil is pretty good for a player that young who put up the PPG and shooting percentages he did last year.

Stat wise, the more I look at his numbers, the more I'm impressed. To start with, he's a 20+ point a game scorer, who shot 47% from the field, 38% from the 3 pt line, and 84% from the foul line. Then, over 30% of his field goal attempts were from the 3 pt line and he more than half as many foul shots as he did field goal attempts.

This is a guy who gets results when he shoots.

the only guy in the league that scored more points on less shots was amare. he is one efficient player. worth $55 mil, not sure, but he's efficient.
