I thought the subject of hunting was interesting. They closed the thread regarding suckbury's comments, so I just wanted to address someone regarding hunting. Pharzeone, you said:
There used to be a channel on DishNetwork called the Men's Channel. I actually came across it by accident. I witness a hunter talking, joking and then all a sudden a wild cat was dropped from a tree while its cubs ran. The hunter went up to the cat and began playing with the dead cat's head. I will challenge you and say that cat didn't have a chance because it didn't even realize it was participating in a "sporting event" just caring for its cubs. Both scenarios have violent deaths, so I can't even begin to understand why you would try to justify hunting. By the same token, I can easily say that these dogs can avoid being killed by 1) biting their would be killers or 2) running away once the cage is open. If game hunting is a sport then Marbury is right dog fighting most be one too.
Well, in respnse, I did' say (in so many words) in my original post on that thread that 'there are a few idiots' in the hunting world. If you go back and read my original, you would see that I wasn't exactly justifying hunting. Merely making a comparison. Trying to point out that one is a little more humane then the other. One of my brothers, as well as his half brothers, by his wife, are hunters. His two sons have learned to hunt also. I thought about what it would be like to be a hunter, or at least know how to hunt. I always knew that I would never try it, not without knowing something about it first. yes, it ends in violence also, sure, but how you think about it, is how you go about it. Respect.
I don't know if you ever had the experience of being around hunters, but I think I can say to understand what it about, vs. sport hunters is something that's kind of important, before a definate view is taken. There are societies around the world, non official, but ancient that have been hunting for thousands of years. The original North American Indigenous peoples hunted Mamoths to extinction, so been hunting for a long, long time. In the Indigenous societies around the world, it is believed that the animal spirits not only guides us in life, but has sacrificing itself for our sustanance. Now, before you comment on this, as far as today is concerned, again, I am not justifying this. But I do understand why a 'certain' kind of hunter hunts in the certain way that they do. I did go on a hunt a few years back and when I went in, I knew I'd be going into it with a certain amount of respect. I went into it, knowing how important it was to have my mind set in a certain way. To go into it just for the sport, the fun or the ignorance of just random killing, mindless ridicule and laughter, would be an insult to my own psyche. When my brother and extended brothers do this, they go into to it knowing they are taking a life and they prey before and after a kill. Not the kind of prayer you do in church, but another kind of prayer. Unlike many mindless hunter-killers, they go after the buck. Rarely a female, especially never with a fond. They belive in a circle of life. If you kill in this manner, you sustain the popullation. I know the kind of people your talking about and I have no need for that kind of hunter.
Well' needless to say, we had no luck that day, or should I say the deer were lucky that day. I myself was glad I didn't get a chance to shoot a deer, because I'm still not sure if I would have been ready to do something like that, but I will say, I have a lot of respect for 'this kind of hunter' and I have a much better understanding, with my experience that day and have to be much more clear of what I mean when I make the comparison between a domestic kill and a wild kill, although it isn't really wild. That's just a European term used indiscrimantly. I suppose like the sports hunter some of us hate. Now your view may be the same, that it's a violent death either way. But let me ask you, if you had to choose the kind of hunter, which would you choose? I thought the whole experiencing was very interesting and thought you'd like to know, so you'd know where I was coming from with my comments. I can comment further, but only if someone asks.
As far as the dogs are concerned? Biting it's owner or running away when the cage is open, how often do you think thats' going to happen?
I'll never trust this' team again.
