non guranteed contracts, what would the Knicks look like? What would the NBA look like for that matter? Are huge contracts really taking away from this league?

I wonder if you'd end up seeing talent moving overseas to guaranteed lucrative contracts if the NBA adopted this.

I recall reading that this was the next big thing that the owners want to pursue the next time the collective bargaining agreement runs out.

Non guaranteed contracts with injury clauses may bring back the true ballers. I don't know if it would fix the league but it would certainly start ridding us of the prima donnas

Prima donnas like Kobe?

I agree that the guaranteed contract certainly has added to what the state of the league is right now. Maybe reward vets who have experienced nothing but winning, but that's really all. It's why I'm totally not mad about Maliks contract, b/c he at least earned what he got, by being a winner.

Also, as you would say Bip, we gotto stop coddling these guys and treating them likes kings. At least the newcomers. They need to learn some values, and I don't mean the values of ice and prostitutes.

Malik has earned NINE MILLION DOLLARS PER YEAR? How do you figure? By showing up to practice and playing 10 MPG? Reality check here. I don't think so.

Not with his time with the Knicks, but he had a nice role with the Spurs for 2 championships. I'll just say he earned his money from there, more than Curry and Crawford and most Knicks earned there money from here!

Yes, very much so. non-guarenteed = better competition

its imappropriate though, especially in a sport like football where there is so much damage done to the players bodies. You are almost forced to use drugs to stay on the roster or risk losing your money. Its totally unfair, and barbaric the way the league treats its players, especially those who retire prematurely from injuries.
