How well do you think Q will play this year? Also do you think he will play more than 50 games?

I think he will look as good as he did last year at the beginning of the year. The question is whether he can hold up for 70-80 games. We won't know that answer until well-after the season has started.

I think he will be just as strong as seasons past. He hustles and gives his all so even if his shooting is off he will find ways to help us. As for the injury and will he play all year long? Unfortunately I'm not a doctor or a psychic so I will have to pass on that question.

There's no way any of us can know at this point. The doctor's reports are supposed to be good, but we've heard that before, too.

i don't know! back problems already at age 27 is not a good thing. At least, he's one of few knick players that can rebound and D' up.

When he's on, he's definitely on but many times last season during games, his playing time was cut short due to his back injury.

he had surgery during the off-season and said his back felt great but we'll found out into the season.

I believe he's the only true leader on this squad!

http://www.knickerblogger.net/2007/08/20/knicks-2007-report-card-a-to-z-quentin-richardson/

Knickerblogger seems to think Q should not play starter minutes but should instead play 20 mpg backing up the Shooting Guard spot and playing some small forward although we have so many small forwards.

They argue that the 33 mpg he was playing before the injury was too much and that the Knicks ought to employ the McDyess strategy with Q and play him 20-24 minutes per night. They said that if he had played the same minutes over 82 games, that would be 19.8 minutes per game and they'd rather have a healthy Q for 20 over 82 than an injured Q for 33 over 50.

Leading to Balkman as the starting SF.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

PF-Zach, Lee, Balkman, Jeffries
Sf-Balkman, Q, possibly rookies and Lee, Jeffries
SG-Jamal and Q and Mardy sprinkled with some Steph and Nate

Minutes will be tight. I don't think anyone on this team will be playing big minutes. I think Q will get limited minutes and be under 30 so I'm not sure why we keep discussing it. But I still do think he should start at the 2. We need some kind of defensive prescence to start games or else anytime our offense is stagnant we will find ourselves in a big hole to start games. Since our Center, PF and PG aren't the best defenders we need to start games with defenders at the 2 and 3 in my view. Otherwise it's just going to be a nightly shootout which will be marred by inconsistency that we have seen for the past 2 years out of our starting line-up. For 3 years offense has never been the issue with the starters.

I agree that minutes will be trimmed for everyone. There's no need for anyone to log ridiculous minutes with a team this talented. In particular our older guys and guys with some injury history. Steph, Q & Zach should keep their mins reasonable in the beginning of the year and so they are strong at the end, that is the best thing for this team.

We have some depth in terms of defensive SG/SF types. Chan and If he doesn't trade or cut Jones he's another insurance guy.

I agree with you Nix. I think one of our biggest issues the past few years has been our awful starts. That puts the pressure on the bench to bring us back and then our starters to maintain it. By the time we reach the final minutes our guys are exhausted and often times can't complete the deal. We need to change that trend this year. So starting Q should be an option. 25 minutes a night, starting the 1st and 3rd quarters works for me.
