wow, that looked great. i wish i had either been there or watched it on tv. as for your assessment of what the mls should do, i completely agree. this is the most interesting the mls has been ever, and it gives young american players a chance to play with world class players.
Forum Po Po and #33 for a reason...

I agree with you dj... MLS needs to keep signing big name players if soccer is ever going to take off in the States. Bottomline is that Americans will only watch the best athletes. It's why gimmicks like the XFL fail here. Most Americans don't want to watch second or third rate players, which is exactly what most MLS players are in comparison to their European counterpart.
Even if the guys they sign are past their prime, it's a good move. At first, I thought signing Beckham was pretty friggin stupid. Apparently I was incredibly wrong, as that game had more buzz than ANY other professional game this summer. Barry breaking the record was huge, but no one knew which game that was going to happen. now beckham is also a celebrity so i don't know if they can duplicate his casual viewer draw...but you get some guys that appeal to the local fanbase (like a hispanic player in ny and possibly a zidane/euro guy elsewhere) and it could work.
