good article. I think they'll figure it out. This is what we should be focusing on:
As long as the Knicks can rotate open players toward Eddy or Zach, they'll have opportunities to get the ball out of the double."

And this is my favorite part:
Said Whittenburg of the problem of blending the two stars: "I think it's a good problem to have."

It's a good thing Zach and Eddy have been present for volentary workouts; messing together in the most important year of their careers seems to be their number one priority

And good aside at the end about other bigs, .5blks a night vs 4.5blks with two active defenders is always a good comparison.

I'm Having Problems

"As long as the Knicks can rotate open players (ie. see skill forward du jour) toward Eddy or Zach, they'll have opportunities to get the ball out of the double."

Said Whittenburg of the problem of blending the two stars: "I think it's a good problem to have."

If the Knicks cannot identify a single player who can hit an open 15-18 footer at a 44-46 per cent clip, or cut off screens and drive the ball to the rack, then heads will roll

Isiah doesn't do that............ he never did it for curry last year.

That was a good article. The point about the importance of other players finding an open spot for Curry and Zach to pass to is significant. It's crucial for the outside players to find an open spot that is visible to the inside players. Then when the player gets the ball, he has to drain the shot quickly before the d can recover.

Zach and Curry's success in passing out of double teams is as much on the other players as it is on them.

So if Eddy and Zack will play well this will be their achievement but if they will suck this will be guard’s fault.

Vote or Die

Silverfuel - I could be dead wrong about Wilson Chandler. But I'm not afraid to put it out there for everyone to see. Based on a limited sample, my gut instinct and based on faith. In advance of the first formal practice.

Anyone can predict failure. That's easy due to the fact that so many unforseen things can go wrong along the way. Then after something blows up, bleat out, "I told you so!"

Big deal. Anyone can play the role of naysayer because more teams fail than succeed. More players are average, or below average, than those who excel

Show me any man who can stand tall with a fearless prediction of success and I'll go to battle with him.

courage dude. courage.

I believe man. Call me a idiot if you want. I believe and I'm not too proud to show it!

I think the knicks will be primed to defend the garden this year and when we have the season opener get together we will sit together beer in hand cheering a convincing victory! I hope the people in front of us brought their bathing suits, or like beer poured all over them!

What teams in the nba last season had a starting PF/C combo averaging 4.5 bpg?
Thats 2.25 bpg for each player. I think only 5 guys in the nba averaged that and I dont remember any pair on one team both averaging that.
Utah had Okur (.5bpg) and Boozer (.3bpg). How did that work out?

Doesn't Utah have AK-47 at SF?

Still, not a bad point from cossucks (anyone else disturbed by that handle, or is it just me?)

Point is, it’s easy to obsess with the blocks stats of our centers, but defense is a team statistic and the Knicks, as a team, were hurt more by 3-pointers last season than points in the paint. And as Boozer’s stats demonstrate, just because you aren’t getting blocks doesn’t mean you aren’t defending.

I'm on record as being unhappy with the Zach trade, remember. I just haven't lost hope yet.

AK 47 doesnt play PF or Center as you pointed out and he averages around 2bpg. Balk could do the same starting for the Knicks.
I to would have prefered a better shotblocker at PF but how many great shot blocking pfs that can score and rebound were available? KG? They paid a ransom for him. We got Zach on the cheap. Who else?

If we can get these guys to play better team D, then i'll be happy with that. I don't feel we need for Zach and Curry to be highlight reel shotblockers. We may just get enough of that from Balk and Chan if they're given a chance. Just give greater effort and i'll take that from them. It's the perimeter defenders that have to step up and I think we'll see that this year.

In terms of Zach and Curry on offense, i'm not that concerned. They are pure scorers and will dominate the possessions for this team. They will be option 1 & 1A and it's the other players that will have to adjust to them. They'll have to learn how to feed the beasts and present themselves for clear passes out of the double. If we can get some improved perimeter shooting that will really loosen up the D and we'll be rollin.
