But lets say the Knicks don't retain any of the players that are gonna be free agents like Nailon, Postel, and Pope while they buy out Ward and Travis......That's 5 roster spots open....

Let's say they do that....They must fill a need right away!
They gotta sign/draft a center or small fwd.

Kandi and Nester have to be on the very top of the Knicks wish list.

What about the draft? I don't see a clean cut option at any position after the big 3.

What is in the Knicks future

A line-up change? Trade the picks and hope the Knicks can get some youth? Trade Sprewell to a team looking for the missing piece?

Ward could be bought out....but I don't know if the Knicks would do that...or wait and try to trade him for a team wanting cap relief. Travis can't be bought out....just cut (but that doesn't help at all), but he is probably worth more as trade bait the same as Ward is. If those two stay....that means 3 open spots on the roster remain...just enough for the 3 picks we have.

The Knicks should get considerably younger the next 2 years....adding FWilliams to the roster this year, 3 picks this upcoming draft, and Milos and at least a first rounder next year. Thats 6 different players without even signing a FA. The rebuilding process could start and be pretty far along by the end of the 2005 season if we are lucky.

Andrew, first the Knicks have to do ONE THING that would give us an indication they are remotely interested in a "youth" movement. Thus far, ZERO... i.e. having two abysmal point guards and a losing record yet, practically no playin' time for first round pick, Frank Williams... when was the last time the Knicks actually developed anyone?

I like Lampe too but like I told the moderator....in 2 years we could have all those players but where would the Knicks stash them? They'll have to cook the books like the MTA.

Maybe with Chaney there and the move to get his own staff...the Knicks could finally develop some guys.

If there are no trades made the Knicks are gonna have to make a line-up change.
KT has gotta start the 4. Spree has got to be benched and his minutes gotta be reduced too. They must purchase a center. They gotta do something about Ward Travis and even Othella. Work Frank into the rotation and let him learn through mistakes. The draft pick has to be a small fwd type and if it's MACIEJ LAMPE(I think he'll be gone before 9 anyway)...no matter how young he is...he needs to get the floor time.

We all agree the Knicks ain't winning till 2005 so what is the point on trying to quick fix? McDyess is done and no other team want to be involved in making the Knicks better. Knicks gotta work them boys from within.

Knicks have to decide what they want to do....they gotta deal with the fact that teams don't want to help the Knicks...period. Chaney would have no choice but to work with what they have....
