Confederacy of Dunces is the funniest book of all time, but I just can't see it as a movie. Ferrell's not right for Ignatius either...

Phillip Seymour Hoffman I think would be perfect for the role. If Jack Black can tone it down a little bit, he'd have some potential too. Oliver Platt sort of looks like the illustrations of Ignatius on the cover of the book. Maybe a British actor like Robbie Coltrane or Stephen Fry.
