Anyone ever heard of a guy name Walt Frazier??...Harper and Doc were way past their primes when they got here..Jackson was a huge liability on D...Not much to choose from in the past 15 yrs..

Clyde is immortal.

Doc and Harper were way too old when the knicks got them. Those guys were still damn good tough players till the end.

Mark jax was too young, arrogant, and inexperienced in his first stint. His second stint he was too old, smart and slow. All his beat years were in other uniforms.

Ward was a soldier. Very tough, smart and consistant. Though out matched every night, he still contributed.

Chris childs gets a bad rap, but the dude was just as consistant as ward. He showed us his worth when he went to toronto and helped them beat the knicks. He was a good leader/teamate and helped Charlie form a decent tandem at the point.

Rod is still the man for me. I can't believe the knicks traded him, and I can't believe they didn't try to sign him instead of childs. One of those guys that were good enough to have made the all-star team just was on the short end of the stick when it came to the depth at his position and his losing teams. His best team had webber, juwan Howard, and a young sheed. Sheed was a bob factor really, and webber wasn't what he was in sactown yet. They gave the bulls a good first round series but they were quickly broken up the next year instead of building on it. They maxed out Howard and rod. Nothing else to show for that. Still rod was a damn good point guard. He obviously takes great care of his body cuz he probably still can play.

He was like a 1 or 2. He was easily among the worst, if not the worst starting/regular PG at getting into the lane and finishing. Actually he's way overrated across the board in all the categories by jazz74. His best attributes were defense, leadership and 3 pt shooting later in his career. He made absolutely nothing happen on the offensive end.

well, i would have put earl and clyde up there but to be honest, i started watching bball during the ewing era. i was not even born when those two ran point so it is unfair that i would rank them. i would like someone who saw them play to rank them though. that is why i started this. as far as charlie goes, he was always in the top twenty in three point percentage so that is why his shooting is up there. i mean he should because they leave him open thanks to being on a starting lineup with the likes of ewing, houston, sprewell and lj. as far as penetration goes, you don't remember the pacer series where he penetrated at will? he is a good penetrator but maybe an 8 is too high. a 7 would suffice.

I think dribble should be higher (8), when was the last time you saw someone strip Charlie?

I think passing should be changed also, he played with a bunch of low post beasts like Ewing and LJ and even passed to Spree and H2O in the high post. He was one of the best post feeders we ever had. He knew exactly where and when to pass the ball into the post.

Clyde was a complete player. There wasn't any important aspect of the game that he wasn't very good at. He passed well, shot the ball well, penetrated well, and played good d. He was a very smart player - always playing within himself and controlling the tempo of the game. As far as point guards go, the Knicks haven't had a close second to him.

Hmm... Harper is tough to rate. He was great when he first arrive mainly because of his defense. The problem is that the league, particularly David Stern took issue with his "Defense" and put in the Derek Ha..., I mean hand checking rule. He went from a great man to man defender to a player who was past his prime in a few short months.

Forget about Clyde and Monroe where is the young black republican on your list?

Damn, EnySpree nailed that Strickland take.

*Thinks about an amalgamation of the Knicks PG situation of the '90s --- castoffs, washouts, over the hill, and undertalented*

*Knows that an aggressive, talented, and offensive-minded PG could have made the difference*

*Remembers the horrible Strickland trade*

*weeps softly, but maintains mainhood*

Mark jackson lit the garden on fire in his early years, and he will be in the hall of fame probably, if not, he is #2 on the all time leaders in assist and one of the smartest PGs, in the game. He also had an offensive move that the NBA changed rules to stop.

He has more assists, than Magic, thats impressive.
