That is one of the most ridiculous arguments on this board.

Seriously!

In particular it's what makes the HATERS extremely pissed because on paper our expectations are usually higher than the lovers and others. We just keep it REAL and express what will most likely happen.

Take for instance a LOVER will be pleased if we make the playoffs as an 8th(40-42wins) seed and get swept although they feel we have all this talent to win. Meanwhile the HATERS will still be pissed because we expect according to talent to win no less than 45gms, more so 48wins and finish as a 6th seed at a minimum.

Another instance is when we compare talent to other teams. You'll hear a LOVER say "Man I really like our talent, a lot, if not more so than the other teams we stack up against. A HATER will say "Other teams have equal if not better talent than our club". Then we'll proceed to talk about Power Rankings and season records and the HATERS appropriately place the ball club about where it should be, compared to their assessments and beliefs to the other teams, meanwhile a LOVER will inappropriately place the ball club considerably lower than their assessments and beliefs to the other teams.


Example Power Rankings where do we compare right now before season starts.......


HATER 11th in the Conference
LOVER 10th in the Conference


Example Talent Comparison(i.e Bulls, Raptors, Orlando) Season Standings


HATER 10th best record at best, in no particular order 1-9

Bos
Bulls
Det
Miami
New Jersey
Toronto
Wash
Orlando
Knicks
Bucks
Charlotte


LOVER 8th best record in no particular 1-7


Clev
Bos

Wash
New Jersey

On paper this team should be a 5th seed and anything less is unacceptable when you start throwing in things like Payroll, Assets given up, Ticket Prices, Lack of post season action etc etc.


I think we'll be the 11th best team in the conference considering everything, including injuries or no injuries, trades no trades, etc etc.

This team has a lot of depth of talent as opposed to being top heavy.

I don't think there's that much difference in the top 10 teams in the East anymore. I wouldn't put us at 11. I think we're right in the middle of the pack after the Cavs, Bulls, Pistons, Celts & Raps. I'm not giving Bos anymore than 4h at this point. Unless they improve that bench.

NJ, Wash, Miami, Orl & NY are all gonna be in the same boat IMO. I believe we match up well with all of these teams. I think there's gonna be a mad scramble with all of these teams being very close to each other. In the end someone is gonna fall off, but I don't think that team is gonna be the Knicks. My guess is Miami. Wash., might not even get off to a good start if Arenas and Butler aren't 100% at the very start of the season. Orl looks to be stronger this year with Lewis.

Why can't you be more clear? So obviously then the Bulls had a better future than our team because you have them in the Top 4. You aren't or weren't impressed with the Raps, yet it appears you have them ranked ahead of us. So in your breakdown I don't know if you have your beloved Knicks ranked 6th or 10th. Sorry Miami will not take that big a slide.

it's not about the level of overall talent as much as it is how those pieces fit together to form a winning calibre team... i still have tons of questions as to what type of team this is supposed to be & whether the style of play they want to implement will result in W's or not.

Yup. We could have the top 12 point guards in the league on our team and all that talent wouldn't mean a thing. Its not about talent. Its about fit.

Well obviously this is what separates the Two groups. HATERS look at the team deeper than face value and dissect it more thoroughly than the LOVERS. But no one has ever questioned the overall talent level of the team.

We're still hoping our leadership will emerge from the rookie/sophomore class, or some scrub who may not make the rotation.

but in reality. qrich was the second most coveted sg the year he was a free agent...before his back went out.

marbs 20/8, pretty good before he proclaimed to be the best.

curry...arguably top 5 center...damn good.

the list goes on...if you are ignoring flaws (both in game and/or lifestyle) we are the top 5 most talented.

but, unfortunately, you can't ignore these things.

Maybe, except the hater seems to gloat when bad things happen to the team too. I think the lovers just are fed up with all the kvetching and whining. It's like if your kid is a screw up and the same neighbor keeps telling you over and over again that he is. I think the haters are annoyed that anyone could take pleasure from this team when they clearly don't. 'You're either with us or against us' in a GWB sort of way.

I gotta big problem with this lover hater nonsense that true blue is talking about.

Its all about a championship not winning a few more games to get a 6th seed instead of 8th.

Yeah if the knicks narrowly scrape their way into a 8th seed, I would be happy. Why? Cuz the knicks are in the playoffs. Its a good thing. Being a 6th seed or better doesn't mean anything. It doesn't mean automatic 2nd round or ecf.

Like I said the main thing us the championship. The knicks have the players they have. Its not like the knicks can trade marbs for Chris Paul or curry for yao ming. Its more fun to talk about what this club should be able to do.

During the season, we can get pissed about what they did wrong etc. Right now its the off season. Its extreamly tiresome to constantly read the nonsense that goes on in threads like this.

My thing is if you have a bright idea pn how the knicks can realisticlly improve the team, please post them. If you don't have anything constructive to talk about, kindly shut the **** up. Wanna talk about nonsense go find a politics board and talk liberals, and conservatives untill your hearts content.

Only 2 things win in this league - defense, and superstars..........and usually championship teams have BOTH.



We have neither.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Random comment: I like Curry. I think he has potential to be an allstar. In the post he is unstoppable but he really needs to work on his defense if we are to take it to the next level.
