Cleveland beat Seattle in the bottom of the 9th. Yanks are now a full game ahead of the Mariners in the Wild Card.

Finally! For crying out loud. Great sweep of the Boston **** heads.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Still plenty of season left but it just shows everyone that you just can't doubt the yanks.

The yanks just gotta sweep TB. No freakin let downs.

The Angels, Yankees, Boston, Detroit, Cleveland and Seattle, are all better than any national league team. Seattle may be on the level with the mets and Padres...

Hopefully, Hughes doesn't get rocked (again) tonight. I'm also curious to see how the Mussina situation plays out.

New York Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain has been suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed amount for his inappropriate actions during the top of the ninth inning of yesterday's game against the Boston Red Sox at Yankee Stadium. Bob Watson, Vice President of On-Field Operations for Major League Baseball, made the announcement.

Chamberlain will begin to serve his suspension tonight, when the Yankees host the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

Come on Baltimore!

How'd Kennedy look out there? Can't watch the games down here in Texas now.

He looked good. Real composed. Live fastball, sitting around 89-91. Threw a slider around 80, then would take a little off, throwing a slower curve in the mid 70s. Slider and curve look like they need a little polish. Best pitch by far was his changeup though. Good arm action on the change - a power changeup. Very effective. Maybe not a #1 type, but Kennedy's got the look of a middle of the rotation guy for years to come. I was impressed!

Man I'm pissed that MLB extra innings in Maine only televises about 80% of the Yankees games. And the game was blacked out on MLBtv. I didn't even know they did that! I really wanted to see Kennedy.

Maine? I thought I was the only Knicks fan in an odd location (New Orleans).

I figured I'd get a few replies about that! I didn't realize before I moved here that Maine is completely Red Sox territory. You would think you were living in Massachusetts. (They have the same accents too.)

It's New England son. It's basically a different country. The weirdest of those people are definitely the ones in Connecticut.

Well I saw highlights on MLBtv. It looks like Kennedy has good movement and location. Pitching against a team like Boston or Detroit will be a completely different challenge than Tampa Bay, though.

Detroit is far better than any NL team. So are the Yankees.

Seattle and Cleveland are right up there with any NL team and right now are playing better than any "Top" NL team.

Yea Detroit is far better, but not Cleveland who leads them by 4 games. And Seattle is right up there, but the Yanks are better than them while they are practically tied in the standings(they just finally caught them but are so much better...LOL). See, it makes no sense to argue with that flawed logic.

Sigh, ok. We'll go by winning pct.

The top 5 winning percentages in baseball belong to AL teams.

And Detroit is all of 2 games back from the top NL team.

Have a nice day.

He disappeared after this post. Owned!

How about going by interleague records?

There are only 3 NL teams worth even mentioning. The Mets, Padres and DBacks.

Mets 8-7
DBacks 8-7
Padres 6-9

Top 6 AL teams:

Red Sox 12-6
Angels 14-4
Yankees 10-8 (Most of those games were played when they were struggling)
Seattle 9-9
Cleveland 9-9
Tigers 14-4

You were saying something about level of competition doing wonders for your team?

Any way you slice it, the NL is a pathetically weak League with not a single NL team worth comparing to the AL elite.

So the top 3 NL teams are BELOW .500 against the AL teams (not even the TOP AL teams, just AL teams overall).

And against the NL, the top AL teams are 68-40

2 1/2 game lead over Seattle, although that might last only a few min before it goes back to 2!

I think Detroit is the team that is the biggest threat to us and they will finish the season ahead of Seattle. Seattle has mediocre hitting and pitching and has barely outscored their opponents (666 to 664). I think those are all signs that they've just pulled off a lot of 1 run victories, which involve not only skill and ability but also luck. I'm not saying dismiss all concerns about Seattle, but my prediction is that their luck will even out and they won't be in the wild card race in the final week.

thank goodness seattle is the streakiest team in the majors.

after the tampa let down, hopefully they sweep seattle and bury them once and for all.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)
